Hi. This isn't Rod but I have an answer. Your files stay where they
are. All my Thunderbird folders, desktop items, data folders, etc are
exactly where they were before the upgrade. Note that if you have the
computer item on desktop it will be renamed to "this pc." The only
problem I had that took a long time to fix was Window-eyes being in
startup programs. I did not have it start after going into Windows but
it would come up on the login screen. The WE sound kept crashing my
machine. The MS answer desk rep helped fix it once I figured out that
it was the WE sound that was crashing the system. Good luck.

OK, I know, this should be the last day for the job. But far as I
remember, the free offer for upgrading to Win10 should last even for
today.

Thing is, I thought I had saved the link for the upgrade. Unfortunately,
it must have been saved really deep in the storage here. Anyone please
could leave me the link for the screen reader offer of free upgrading to
Win10?

RE: Upgrading to win10

2018-01-01 Thread Rod Hutton via Talk
Hi Brendan,

The option is yours, which you choose at the beginning of the installation.
If you choose to keep your settings, that is, import as much of Windows 7
software as possible, it will analyze your system for incompatible software,
and, if a piece of software passes the test, it will be available under Windows
10.
If something must be uninstalled in order for Windows 10 to be installed,
Windows 10 wil attempt to uninstall it.
If Windows cannot do it, you will be notified, and the installation will not
proceed until you remedy the situation.

Best,

Rod
