It may depend upon the version of Windows, but Window-Eyes sounds are in the
Sound Schemes in Control Panel. It is easy to miss them. If you arrow down
through the list of Windows sounds, you will find other software sounds as
well.
In Windows 10, it is possible to set the volume of the sounds for particular
software packages including, I believe, muting them. It is worth looking
for Window-Eyes sounds when Window-Eyes is running to see if that could be
the problem. Unfortunately, it is hard to give exact steps as there are
some variations depending upon which version of Windows is being used. I
type volume into the cortana edit box and get "Adjust System Volume as a
result. Right now, I am running JAWS and I see JAWS sounds there. Yes,
some of us have to switch to JAWS because Window-Eyes and JAWS works with
some of my employer's software that does not work with NVDA or Narrator.
Best regards,
Steve Jacobson

I have no idea why you're having that issue. I would think somewhere in
sounds.

Ever since I downloaded jaws, suddenly my window eyes sounds are not working
when I am using window eyes; which is most of the time. The rest of the
windows sounds seem to work, but the sounds that window eyes uses are
suddenly non-existent. I tried to find out where they were, and can't. Can
anybody tell me how to get them back? That and the messages that go with
them? Pam.

I have been a member of this list for many many years and have received lots
of help over those years. Sadly I have moved away from Window Eyes and am
now using NVDA as well as the free transfer to Jaws. Thanks to Doug for
getting us WE users that free Jaws as I would have never paid for Jaws.
Having made the switch I know that WE has been the best screen reader for me
and it is a dam shame that Doug and crew couldn't have done a better job of
promoting their product so they could have beaten Jaws. Thanks to all that
have put up with me. I am now unsubscribing from the list and hope to see
many of you on the NVDA and Jaws lists.
