Yes, Robert, jarte is exactly that, a speech friendly word processor that is leaner than MS word but more powerful than word pad. I also don't care for MS word because of its size and because it uses the ribbon. Jarte is free but has a paid version for, I think, 19.95. If you try jarte, I recommend the minimal view, which you will find at the bottom of the view menu. This hides all the tool bars and ruler, etcetra. Brice, I've heard of that copying a line of text to the clipboard method many times. but I've never had to use it. consequently I don't know what it is. I would uninstall Jarte and then be sure to uninstall the Office compatibility pack as well. Then download and install this different version of the compatibility pack. It fixed Jarte for me. https://www.dropbox.com/s/k0knh4oged1j45y/OfficeConverterPack.zip?dl=1 Then reinstall Jarte and it should be ready to roll. You may have to close and reopen it to get it to sink up with the compatibility pack. I can't remember. But again, I've never had to do anything else to get Jarte to work. I use Jarte. It's a word processor, like m.S. Word. It's free and is much simpler to use. Just google Jarte and you can download it. it comes in screen reader mode. I examined the package contents, noticing the outdated set file with the .000 extension, and I noted the functionality which the app intended to provide. I know nothing about Jarte. However, if you have Window-Eyes set file with the extension of 000, you may receive this error. Window-Eyes set files used to have this extension. Go to the Window-Eyes Control Panel. Under the File menu, find Update Outdated Settings and press Enter. When the process is complete, you will get a message telling you if any files were fixed. I was wondering could someone please look up the jarte app last time I guess it was written back in 2008 and when I load it the program does load but before it loads I get a set file error saying something like jarte.000 is not a set file then the jarte program loads. Jarte Question
The standard faunt size for Jarte is 10. If I change it to 12, it always reverts back to 10, when I re-open it. Is there a way to make it stay at my setting? David, You're not missing anything. Jarte is nothing more than Microsoft Wordpad on steroids. It can open Txt, RTF, Doc, and Docx files. That's it. They may have meant QRead. It's not free. Jarte and PDF?
If memory serves me right, a few days ago someone on the list claimed they used Jarte for their PDF files. If this is so, I am confused. I have downloaded and installed the software from their official webpage, so would expect it to be the latest version. But I cannot seem to make it open any PDF files. If I try, via the File menu of the program, to open a PDF, all that happens is that Internet Explorer opens, with the document. Well, if that is all the Jarte does with this file format, I could have done things in IE directly, couldn't I? So, is there any clue here, that I am not aware of? Or, is Jarte only good for Word documents? jarte in read only mode
Hello, after installing jarte, I opened the program and it opened in read only mode. Can someone tell me where to change this, so that it opens in edit mode? Thanks for any help.
