Re: jump to a unvisited link
Eventhough it has been a call for so long. Even before the redo of the browse mode. Sure, there would be cases when you could have increased productivity highly, by using a hotkey to jump to the two only links on a page of a 120 different choices, that you have not yet researched. Say for instance, when you scroll through a list of products on EBay, or when you have performed a search on the net, by means of your search engine. You want to make informed dicisions, so you check the links down the list. If WE always would go back to where you left the page, you could start at the top, and work your way down. But unfortunately, such behavior is long time gone, especailly after the rewritten browse mode. The WE cursor jumpst to anywhere on the page, when you return after a moment. Then you have to scroll your way through 79 links that you have already visited, listening to all the "visited" messages. By the time you finally refind the first unvisited link, your ears are sweat - that is, if they have not yet fallen off. Not exactly productive, and by far, tidious. Other screenreaders have managed to have Unvisited link search by a hotkey, even for long. Many have called for the functionality in WE, even when there has been questions from the staff, what kind of features we want implemented. I for one, really had wished such a feature would have been on the roadmap. To all those of you, who have been using Jaws, does this feature exist in that screen reader? Just wondering, since they now have the merge, maybe chances are they will leave us more of the features in both readers. Please, don't tell me to go and use NVDA. I already do, and I know the feature exists there. But look, it is WE I have paid for, and paid all my upgrades for. That is why I hope to see the most effecient features, and the highest flexibilityy, in this screen reader. Otherwise, if I will find all I need in the other product, I could have saved money. RE: jump to a unvisited link
Robin, I wish adding this functionality to Window-Eyes was as simple as defining a hotkey. But, the problem is navigating by unvisited link is something that has never been implemented in Window-Eyes. This means that there is no hotkey to define. It may be possible to write an app that offers this type of functionality in Internet Explorer, but I don't know for sure. And, I don't think that implementing this functionality in the core of Window-Eyes so it works in all supported browsers is currently on the roadmap.
