Get the thunderbird extension, close tab on escape.

Subject: removing the TB app

I removed the TB app a few days ago and now experiencing a minor
problem. Okay, once I'm done reading a message hitting escape does not
close the message. Only control W closes the message, or I can hit the
delete key and the message goes right into the trash folder and opens
the nnext message which I don't like, I like to check out the subject
line before opening any email message. Here is my problem, if you are
in the list view of the inbox and inadvertently hit control W instead of
delete key to move on to the next message, control W will close down
Thunderbird. So depending where ever your at in Thunderbird This key
combonation serves to different functions. When pressed it will either
close the message if in a message, or will close the program if in the
list view. Is there a way to get the escape key to close a message?
Thanks.
