Yesterday when I shut down the computer I heard the ascending chord and the

If so this might have something to do with a problem I am looking at.

Hi

I suspect you're probably upgrading from a much earlier version of
Window-eyes? the assending piano sound has been around for awhile now,
so that's probably what that is. these aren't beeps, this is an
assending chord, to indicate that window-eyes is starting. there's also
a decending one that plays when Window-eyes shuts down. It's very much
like the one heard when NVDA starts and shuts down too. Other than
that, I have no ideas why it might be acting the way it is.

RE: two things that are happening with the new version WE 9.3

2015-12-18 Thread Rick Thomas via Talk
Hi: I use the logon screen when booting or ReBooting.
WE and Windows10 seem to take much, much longer to boot up and get WE
speaking at the login window.
When the window does come up (with the female voice) tabbing around or
trying to type is very, very slow, even much slower than it was under my old
setup of WE 8.4 and Windows 8.1
Also, when booting I hear some things in a quieter voice after I enter the
password and before I hear the message that the Caps script is active and
then WE switches to the louder version of my Eloquence. The quiet voicing is
after the female voice used in the login screen and after the ascending
music indicating WindowEyes is loading or has loaded.
It almost sounds like WE is using an old version of the Eloquence settings
then switching to the new one and as for why WE and Windows10 loads so
slowly and there is such delay trying to tab around the login screen I am at
a loss.
But something doesn't seem right and if WE is trying to use 2 synths or
reading things or not using scripts yet or whatever it is a pain to log onto
my computer - note that it sounds like this is a windowEyes window but not
sure.
Perhaps WE is crashing as someone noted and ReStarting in whole or in part
causing all this series of problems?
So, since you having problems with WindowEyes loading this may add to the
analysis of booting and ReBooting delays, goofy speech and what, if not
patient, the login window not responding which it does but God awfely slowly
to tab and typing.

This means that WE is notcommunicating with your video driver properly

Re: two things that are happening with the new version WE 9.3

2015-12-18 Thread Tom Kingston via Talk

For what it's worth, here's what happened to me.

After installing 9.3 I did not get these tones. Then I did some house
cleaning, Disk cleanup, and Disk defrag. Then it started every time I
booted up.

I rebooted several times, tried refreshing the accessibility libraries,
rebooted some more, reinstalled the 9.3 upgrade, more rebooting, and all
to no avail.

Then at the end of the day I powered down instead of my usual put the
system to sleep. When I powered up the next morning no bombs were
dropped on me. And I haven't heard them since.

This is on Windows 10.

Tom

Hi, I've noticed this also on my new windows 10 PC. It does it when I
shutdown, and also I sometimes get two window eyes talking at once for just
a moment.

Once you hear this, you should probably restart WE by control-alt-w.
When you do this, you should not hear those beeps. As far as I
understand, this is a timing issue.

Re: two things that are happening with the new version WE 9.3

2015-12-18 Thread Tom Kingston via Talk
When this happens during shutdown I believe it's because a login window
is whizzing by. This triggers the Window-Eyes load before start up and
Windows continues shutting down while Window-Eyes is trying to make the
connection.

If I turn load before start up off it goes away. So it's no big deal,
just a little bullying on the playground.

I get the beeps most every time windows loads. this is w e crashing. I guess
because with me it tries to load 2 or 3 times before it gets to the desktop.
w e loads for the log on screen but I have windows set to by pass this screen.
this is one time when w e crashes. then loads another copy when it gets to the
desktop.
I leve this setting alone because windows needs speech when you switch users.

two things that are happening with the new version WE 9.3

2015-12-17 Thread crw via Talk
Hello I did install the new upgrade yesterday. I have noticed when I
restart the computer and when the computer starts up I get three beeps:
one hi, middle, then low in that order that happens when Window Eyes 9.3
starts up why is this happening? Also when I go in the WE control panel
for example when I expand the screen section of window eyes under voices
it reads the first dialog, then when I tab around it does not read the
area where it says pitch, then after it says 3. It just reads 3 and I do
have everything set correctly so that it would read everything and went
in to the verbosity settings under menu and checked whatever settings I
wanted to be set was set. In order to make sure I did not miss anything
that window eyes was not reading out I had to load NVDA to make sure I
was on the correct area of the screen. Has anyone experienced this? I
also did merge all of my new set files with the old ones. Any help would
be wonderful. Thank you.

Re: two things that are happening with the new version WE 9.3

2015-12-17 Thread Chris Skarstad via Talk

2015-12-17 Thread Pamela Dominguez via Talk
No, I don't think it's the harp up and down runs that are being talked
about. I have had these three beeps when my window eyes would malfunction.
There is a middle e, or something, a low a, which is third octave, and a
fifth octave e. After it would do that, my window eyes would die. In
order to fix this, I had to get GW to go on my computer and get rid of my
window eyes and totally reinstall it. Pam.
