Re: [OSM-talk] Barrier to entry: to trace from imagery on Ubuntu

2009-12-24 Thread Bráulio Bezerra da Silva
And lose your entire work every 20 minutes or so because of Flash
breaking... Ok, this doesn't occur this often, but it does sometimes. Not
Potlatch's fault, though.

I'm still reading it "nanometers" even after reading your email and after
spending 7 months in a flight simulator company!

Hmm, an update: some GSoC OSM projects [1] were already accepted.

[OSM-talk] Will Google ever use OSM data?

2009-11-02 Thread Bráulio Bezerra da Silva
With OSM data getting more and more quality, I guess it will be a logical
move to Google (and others) to use it for its needs (for example in cities
where they have NOTHING mapped). Though, I've never seen anyone discuss
that. Thinking about this, some questions arise.

Will it ever happen?

Will this be a good thing for people who use routing services?

Will this be a good thing for OSM?

All of that happening, will Google get more involved and help OSM (for
example, with Google Summer of Code, etc)?

Re: [OSM-talk] Google has dual carriage way where it's not built yet

2009-10-08 Thread Bráulio Bezerra da Silva
I agree with you. Every single map of my city I've seen has some "planned
roads" where in reality we have a forest or something else. These roads are
in the "oficial map" of the city plan made by the authorities and are
promptly copied to comercial maps. I think we should map only things that
are clearly in the construction phase, and of course use a tag to indicate
this.
