Re: [OSM-talk] OSM on "factory" Macs

2008-04-21 Thread Daniel Schmidt
Sorry for my previous, possibly confusing post. I meant so send this
one...

I've been using the slippy map with Safari for several months and
never had an issue.

Newer Macs come with the Mighty Mouse which has 4 buttons and a scroll
button. But you should also be able to use any other USB mouse.

Safari comes with a Flash plug-in and therefore has no problems
running Potlatch.

If you want, I can come to Karlsruhe and do some Mac consulting
(sometime after finishing my university degree next week) ;-)

[OSM-talk] RFC: golf course

2008-03-09 Thread Daniel Schmidt
Hi everyone,

there is a new RFC regarding golf courses.
I tried to include a lot of Wikipedia links to make it comprehensible
even for non-golfers. Please take a look at it and share your opinion.

Why not use bitmap tiles for forest/wood rendering?
I've just painted a small tile which I'm hereby releasing into public
domain. (http://osm.planetschmidt.de/pub/forest_tile.png)
Here's a mockup I made in Photoshop: http://osm.planetschmidt.de/pub/forest.png

Re: [OSM-talk] Kosmos on Linux

2008-02-13 Thread Daniel Schmidt
Great job, Igor!

It even works on my Macintosh (Mac OS X 10.5.2) using mono.
Only issue I see right now is a constant fickering in the "open file"
dialog (but only in the Kosmos root directory and "srtm").

[OSM-talk] [proposed feature] shop=car, car_repair etc.

2007-12-20 Thread Daniel Schmidt
The proposal regarding vehicle dealerships and services has been up
for discussion for over two weeks now with only one objection
considering namespacing some tags.

It would be great if we could get some more opinions on that before I
start the voting in a couple of days.

In my understanding, an example for a "permissive" car park would be a
supermarket car park. It's a private car park which is publicly
accessible and you don't have to ask anyone for permission to park.
But you are only allowed to use this car park while shopping in that
particular market. As the usage of this car park is somehow restricted
I wouldn't display a 'P' symbol.

The only case where I would place this symbol is when you are allowed
to park your car and go whereever you want for a couple of hours.

So:
access=public => 'P'
access=private => no 'P'
access=permissive => no 'P'
access=[anything else] => no 'P'
no access => 'P' (as most of the current car parks in OSM are probably
public ones but don't have an "access" tag)
