is there a way to share foursqure data with osm? Do foursquare users
release all right to entered data to forusquare? If so, then foursquare
could (if they decided so) release that data to OSM community, right?

[OSM-talk] How to mark notes as resolved?

2013-08-02 Thread valent.turko...@gmail.com
Hi,
how to mark notes as resolved? Is there an option to auto-delete notes
after some period of time? Let's say a month? There is really no reason to
keep clutter map with resolved notes, or is there?

Wiki is lacking this info:
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Notes

Ups, you are right, I actually had few turn restriction bugs in osm
data, routing work great, this service is awesome.

[OSM-talk] Waste map and OSM?

2012-05-28 Thread valent.turko...@gmail.com
You have probably seen this Waste map project that uses OpenStreetMap
as background for mapping waste all over the globe:
http://www.letsdoitworld.org/waste_map

Does anybody know what technology did they use to overlay images and
circles with waste?

Is their technology open and recyclable (pun intended) for similar
projects that need an overlay on top off OSM data?

Any info is appreciated.

Thanks Andy for helping,
I had 4223 version of JOSM, that is the latest in Fedora RPM
repository. When I started the plugin and gave it changeset it would
just hang there, I left it that way for over 10 minutes then made a
forceful close :(

Hi,
I made a mess of one edit, and tried to revert back changeset using revert
perl scripts. I use Fedora as my main desktop and have perl installed, so I
guessed this will be easy.

I downloaded revert scripts from svn, created file with username and
password, but left it in dryrun mode, but it still fails ;(

Maybe then do a test with BigBlueButton (they have voice chat only as
an option not a requisite) and see if it fits in OpenStreetMap.

Maybe it works great for OSM community maybe it fails, only one way to
find out...

[OSM-talk] OpenStreetMap + BigBlueButton = win (multi conference chat, voice and video server for meetings/teachings

2011-01-19 Thread valent.turko...@gmail.com
Hi Galls & Guys,

you should have a look at BigBlueButton as a multi conference and
video server for your meetings/teachings (http://bigbluebutton.org).

This is a great program, you can install it in a breeze, fully GPL
compliant and with a very active community.
Latest version has multi video conference with screen sharing, text
chat, slides control and even shared whiteboard for annotations!

This is huge for remote teaching, and you don't need to subscribe to
any web page, nor pay anyone to use their server.
Maybe OpenStreetMap community can even help develop bbb further, a working
client that uses non-adobe gpl flash player would be sweet, for
example.

And no, I don't get paid by BigBlueButton at all:P

You should also consider BigBlueButton (http://bigbluebutton.org) if
you want to host your own servers, and it's fully open source and
under a heavy development. There are scripts to install it very easily
in Redhat/CentOS and Ubuntu/Debian.

I first heard about bbb project on FLOSS Weekly podcast
(http://twit.tv/floss147)

Easiest way to see it in action is to first to check out their videos
(http://bigbluebutton.org/content/videos) and then test their live
demo server: http://demo.bigbluebutton.org/

Should I post this email to OpenSteetMap board or some other mailing list?
I'm not sure that OSM user mailing list is the right way for this proposal.

Cheers,
Valent.
