Or am I way off base here? Toby I'm sure it's not a discussion for the dev-list but shortly, the place node(s) and the administrative boundary are two different things. You can have more than one place node inside a boundary polygon. In my country, we use the role admin_centre in the boundary relation to indicate which place node is the administrative centre. Wyo, No specific reason. It looked like the quickest route to demonstrable results for someone not at all familiar with modern web technologies such as myself. And it did - I did this in a few hours, including the PHP script that calls Nominatim and parses the result. So I created a prototype based on the Nominatim API and the Google Closure JS framework. There's a lot of things it won't do yet, but it's a decent first step.
