Re: [OSM-talk] Japan coastline errors
Hi, Sorry to be late for reply. We OpenStreetMap foundation Japan re-imported the coast line of Japan before the license change. Because the importer of the old coastline denied new Contributor Terms. We think there is no error now and waiting mapnik for re-rendering. Thanks. It seems Mapnik takes a long time to update the coastline shapefiles. I surveyed a length of coastline on holiday, and edited it back in August. But it is still rendering quite wrong in Mapnik (though fine in Osmarender). http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=38.0634386837482lon=20.7489976286888zoom=17 Richard (user:richardm565) Original message on Thu Nov 3 00:39:57 GMT 2011 Kimon Berlinkimon at deepskymarines.org [mailto:talk%40openstreetmap.org?Subject=Re%3A%20%5BOSM-talk%5D%20Japan%20coastline%20errorsIn-Reply-To=%3C4EB1E2DD.8060204%40deepskymarines.org%3E] wrote Oh, that's right, the other renderers don't have the problem (today). As for the coastline issues you mention, there was a recent large-scale data import -- the Yahoo!/ALPS Data Import, to be precise. There was a variety of road data and coastline data. It is quite possible that the weird coastline you find is a result of this import. You can read about it in Japanese (or imperfectly using Google Translate) at the following sites. http://www.openstreetmap.jp/node/66 http://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/talk-ja/2011-October/005625.html There is a lot of new coastline data, and most of it has been imported properly. ikiyaです。 Geofabrik.de http://tools.geofabrik.de/map/?type=Geofabriklon=134.35832lat=34.18724zoom=9 Cloudmade.com http://maps.cloudmade.com/?lat=36.093499lng=137.427979zoom=7styleId=1opened_tab=0 Mapquest.com(こちらはレンダリングデータけっこう古い) http://www.mapquest.com/maps?country=JP 以上、参考まで。 --- On Wed, 2011/11/2, Yoichi Seino say.n...@gmail.com wrote: Dear Kimon, The talk-ja list is indeed in Japanese, so if possible Japanese is preferred.
