[OSM-talk] Tenerife flooded?

2008-11-06 Thread Karl Guggisberg
Hi,

I today realized that Tenerife
http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=28.291lon=-16.557zoom=10layers=B000FTF

is (at least partially flooded).

I've been mapping a couple of villages there lately but to the best of my
knowledge I didn't touch the coastline,

Any ideas?

Cheers
Karl

I also noticed that yesterday, but I don't know what changes may have
triggered that.

I'll try to look into it if time allows.

At 11.32 am (London and Tenerife time), the coast looks ok from JOSM. Is it
necessarily a problem with the database? this happens from time to time and if
I understood it well, it's a problem with the shapefiles Mapnik uses to render
the coast, no?

cheers,

It seems the problem originates from the northern part of the island:

http://informationfreeway.org/?lat=28.451341620997802lon=-16.472824181973483zoom=17layers=0F0B0F
and
http://informationfreeway.org/?lat=28.453586657564585lon=-16.254556788452955zoom=16layers=0F0B0F

It seems the island is cut at lat 28.4516, but I failed to see any problems
near the area. So far, I haven't found any strange data with the JOSM
validator.

It looks like it's a tileborder, but it is not. I'm also looking at the
area.

I think the data must have been bad when I pulled in the shapefile
generated on Tuesday this week. I've just updated it with the one from
this morning and the island looks OK. You should see this starting to
appear fixed soon (It may take a some time for the tiles to re-render
and may need to bypass your browser cache).
