Re: [OSM-talk] Thanks for cooperation to SOTM 2017

2017-08-24 Thread Martijn van Exel
Jun,

It was my pleasure to meet you in Aizu-Wakamatsu and enjoy a very well
organized, fun and educational SOTM. Among my personal highlights (besides the
high quality talks) were the group picture ceremony on the historic castle
grounds, the group dinner and ensuing karaoke fun, and meeting many new
community members. It was my first visit to Japan and I certainly hope it is
not my last.

Now that we're on the topic of SOTM: we had a good Local Chapters meeting
following the one in Brussels in 2016. This time, we collected OSM usernames /
email addresses from everyone there (about 35 people from 20 countries!) so we
can keep working together on helping each other build local communities and
institutions to support OSM. If you weren't there but want to help (or need
help), email me and I will add you to the list.

Thanks for all the hard work, and I look forward to Milan 2018!

Martijn

[OSM-talk] Thanks for cooperation to SOTM 2017

2017-08-23 Thread jun meguro
Hello, list.
This is Meguro, State of the Map Aizuwakamatsu local team lead.

State of the Map 2017 Aizuwakamatsu was held in 18th-20th August.

In spite of Aizu has limited transportation access, total participants
number is around 200, cumulative total number of people reaches 550 in 3
days. This is great success! (Other than above, we had 38 volunteer staffs,
41 talks, 16 lightning talks, 10 workshops and 37 participant of Fukushima
museum mini-tour.)

This conference is 10th anniversary conference, and also this is first "2nd
time" conference in 1 country.

Participants were gathered from 30 countries/regions all around the globe.
We have shared their stories at the conference, experienced Japanese
historical place Tsuruga-jo castle and deepen engagement. Then they are
heading to their own ground.

Thank you for all the members of Fukushima local community, OSM Foundation,
OSM Foundation Japan and all the mapper communities from across Japan and
the World.

I think it is difficult to achieve such a great success without you. This
success is a fruit of activities of the best members and best community.

It comes a sense of fulfillment and also a sense of loss and missing to my
mind after SotM. They are two side of a coin.
But we have plenty of vacant space to fill. Sparks in my heart is going to
be ignited and becomes an ever lasting great flame, sooner.

Now Milan team may feel both enthusiasm and anxiety which our team felt
last year.
Let's map this vast globe as much as possible we can reach our hand and
walk to. Next gathering with friends living far away is approaching.

Thank you again, everyone!
