If it's a public GPX trace on OSM, you can show it using:

OpenLayers can in fact read the GPX itself.
Take a look at http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Openlayers_Track_example
I've just fleshed up this page a bit, and fixed it :)

When I searched the openlayers examples page in the search box for GPX
nothing came up, which is why I assumed that it wasn't supported yet.

Hi Manning

A great site with OSM support is http://www.gpsies.com

If you want free advertising for the event, you can also publish it on
other sites without OSM layers :
Nokia Sports Tracker, mapmyride, everytrail, wikiloc, gpsed,
mapmytracks, track-n-share and magnalox

Maybe you could use bikemap.net for this. The site supports OSM-Layers,
Mapnik and OpenCycleMap.

When you say rolling your own slippy map, do you mean creating the
tiles yourself, or not touching javascript?

You could convert the GPX to KML and use Web Maps Lite.
http://developers.cloudmade.com/projects/web-maps-lite/examples/kml-and-geo-rss

OpenLayers has an equivalent API call.
http://openlayers.org/dev/examples/kml-layer.html

TrackMyJourney is an option, though that is aimed at you having
travelled that route, and doesn't need any javascript.

[OSM-talk] suggested website to upload a temporary cycling route event over OSM streetdata

2009-04-10 Thread Maning Sambale
Hi,

I want to create an interactive webmap for an upcoming cycling event in
the Philippines. I can prepare a gpx file for the route. Now I want it
over OSM data. Are there any site that provides this service (other
than rolling my own slippy map)?

The route is temporary (only for this cycling event) therefore I am
hesitant to add it in the main OSM database.
