Since I use some "wobbly" scanned maps I think of this as a better tool: http://warper.geothings.net/ (or alpha-state site http://staging.mapwarper.net/ for unlimited map-size) Plus, other people can also work with the map and help rectifying it. For the rectified map a WMS-url is generated with which one can use it conveniently in JOSM. hth malenki ___ talk mailing list talk@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk

Hi, With PicLayer JOSM plugin, you can view the image as an underlay, move it and rescale it to fit (at least locally and approximately) existing OSM map data. (Use F1 to get help window). [1] You're probably even safer given that the Berne Convention (that established copyright) was only signed in 1886.[2] Tim [1] http://legislation.govt.nz/act/public/1994/0143/latest/DLM345932.html#DLM345932 [2] http://wipo.int/treaties/en/ip/berne/summary_berne.html ___ talk mailing list talk@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk

i found a map on wikipedia from 1859, which i would assume makes it out of copyright and thus far game for copying data into osm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:AucklandMapHochstetter1859.JPG if so, what would be the best way to view it as an underlay, for adding volcanoes to the map database? cheers ___ talk mailing list talk@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk
