If they are anything like the University of Leicester, where I
work, then the internal maps will be based on OS data. Worth
asking, but don't be surprised if this is the answer!

University of Washington in Seattle is coming along - all the footpaths
are in place (and even named), plus campus grounds and several of the
main buildings. However, the official campus maps are way beyond what
we have in osm.

That really is nice work! The Mozilla Toronto office is right next door (on
Spadina less than a block from Bloor) and I was checking out the area in OSM
before I visited. I was quite impressed!

The UPM webpage doesn't have a page for its three campuses, only for
independent faculties:

http://www.upm.es/laupm/centros/plano_etsiag.html

http://openstreetmap.org/?lat=40.38873&lon=-3.62857&zoom=16&layers=B000FFF

And my second home for the last few years:
http://www.upm.es/laupm/centros/plano_fi.html
http://openstreetmap.org/?lat=40.40494&lon=-3.83663&zoom=16&layers=B000FFF

Their maps are a blatant rip-off of the Consejería de Transportes de Madrid
ones (read "Madrid transportation authority"), badly scanned at different
resolutions and with a quite ugly blinking mask on top. I don't think the UPM
cares about copyright a tiny single bit.

I study on a very small Campus (at "Umwelt Campus Birkenfeld"), so it wasn't
that hard to get it done. By now I would say it's even more complete than the
original map given by the university:

Original map from the "UCB" (north is on the left side so you have to turn it
by 90° to the right)

Glad to see my ancient efforts at Reading up there! If only we could get
some aerial photography then I could go back and accurately map in all the
buildings and other facilities from memory. The shapes are a bit fiddly to
do otherwise.

I think we should actually ask the marketing departments of the
Universities in question to arrange a donation of their own maps and
data to the project. I'll ask Surrey -- anyone else up for it?

having a mapping party here in a little under two weeks to finish the
