Re: [OSM-talk] Map_Features not loading
I'm currently fine with the map features, you can read it if you like/need and search it for stuff. But could we all agree that the two keys which have potentially an endless list of values, the sport and shop keys (and game later for snooker, bowling, etc.), could be moved to a separate page and we just keep an header for these two keys in the Map Features page ? Like someone started a try with shops at http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/index.php/Proposed_features/shops_%28multiple%29 regards, Pieren ___ talk mailing list talk@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/talk

In my opinion, it should include the main options for highways, perhaps the top 12 most used, and then a link to the rest of the key on a seperate page. I could agree with this point, if a _complete_ list is kept anyway somewhere. I don't know about others, but I find the current page very useful as is, because I can use it as quick reference while mapping. FULL ACK! Re: [OSM-talk] Map_Features not loading
Apparently some people have converted it to about fifteen million embedded meta-templates. I've altered Map_Features to link to the templates rather than include them and it renders now. The someone is myself. I migrated to templates in the middle of January, and this had no impact of the page size. The reason of doing this is to help the internationalization (and synchronization) of this important page, these templates are used in the german, czech, danish, french, italian, russian, turkish, dutch Map Feature pages. This error already raised before the migration to templates. The main reason is that the page weight is inflating because of new features (and more pictures ?). The solution will be to either split the page in 2 or many pages but people like to see all at once (see mail from Chris) or reduce the amount of information (e.g. summarize, remove pics) or fix the problem on the wiki engine. But the current situation is not satisfaying : either restore the templates calls in the main page or add a link to new pages where templates are called. ___ talk mailing list talk@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/talk
