I believe this is a data inconsistency bug, where potlatch (edit tab)
shows deleted nodes, but osmarender does not see them.
editing the affected way (so it gets written again by potlatch) fixes this.

After doing some experimentation, I found, that after splitting the
feature or editing some of its nodes they are rendered correctly when I
send a new render request via tah.

But I still would like to know, what causes the problem.

Hi Thomas,

Can you be more specific about what is being simplified and not
showing on the map?  I took a quick glance at the link you provided and
don't see any difference between osmarender and mapnik.
