2010-01-16 Thread Liz
i've been playing with my oregon
updated the software to latest
downloaded the maps from osmaustralia.org
found that qlandkartegt will not load the routable maps
found that now one can load maps called something else than gmapsupp.img onto
the new garmin
loaded all the unzipped maps
and my armchair routing works (no, i did not pay garmin for any maps, this is

[talk-au] CommonMap association is now proceeding to incorporation

2010-01-16 Thread morb . gis
Hi,

I just wanted to let everybody know that the CommonMap association is now
authorised to incorporate.

We have 8 members in total. Both "special resolutions" on
http://commonmap.info/w/index.php/Association/Incorporation/Agenda were
carried.

According to http://www.fairtrading.qld.gov.au/incorporating-an-association.htm
we now proceed to "lodge Association Incorporation Form 1".

More details to come but we'll probably post them on http://commonmap.info/

Thanks,
Brendan

But what does "traffic" mean? I think most people would, without
thinking too hard, assume it meant motor vehicles. But perhaps it is
broader than that. *shrug* At the end of the day, it seems like a
question of courtesy rather than law.

In one of the QLD gov handouts - "Your keys to driving in Queensland", it says

"The road past the sign is not intended for through traffic. The sign
may be at the entrance to a local area or at detours where local
traffic is allowed to enter the work area."

Doesn't actually say you can't go there.
