Re: [talk-au] Adopting "AU" Prefix on Network tags
It makes a lot of sense. In the states / USA, we (OSM as state and governments rather naturally cleave here for us) "split at state boundaries" all the time (as regards to highways and routes). It is "sane in the long run" I believe is widely believed. Things "come into better focus" for many, is how I might describe it, and I think is happening (now, again). When/as there is "sense in our data" and people understand how to build it and use it, our data grow stronger. ___ Talk-au mailing list Talk-au@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-au
Re: [talk-au] Adopting "AU" Prefix on Network tags
Hello Andrew, and all. I've updated the draft guidelines to document these changes. I've included an example of how it would be tagged. What are your thoughts? If everyone is happy with the draft we can integrate it into our tagging guidelines proper. I believe... Ways and State Route (relations) should split at the border. State routes typically form as members of the national route... therefore I would say .. 1. Ways are split or borders 2. Ways are members of state route relations network=AU:QLD 3. State relations are members of a national relation (if they make up the national network) network=AU I believe there is far less entropy in this convention as well. Thoughts? Cheers. For routes that cross state borders, I would favour using AU:NAT (or AU:COM/AU:FED/AU:AUS, something that says "interstate or national). I could also see an argument for creating a seperate relation for each state, with a national superrelation To be that seems like too much overhead. Hi https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Conditional_restrictions seems to suggest like you bus:conditional = permit @ (Jun-Oct) Looking in taginfo suggests something like this with a general condition and then specific exceptions: bus:access = no bus:conditional = yes @ (permit AND Jun-Oct) bus:conditional = yes @ (Nov-May) Alex From: Brendan Barnes Date: Friday, 19 August 2022 at 8:31 pm To: talk-au Subject: [talk-au] Declared Hazardous Areas in Vic Hi all, I've noticed these signs in Victorian Alpine areas https://kartaview.org/map/@-36.897592376139094,147.06169030221406,16z And on a quick online seach came up with https://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/licences/licence-and-permit-types/authority-to-drive-in-hazardous-areas Would a tag to represent such roads be expressed something like: bus:conditional = permit @ Jun-Oct ___ Talk-au mailing list Talk-au@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-au

[talk-au] Research survey on bots and automated edits
Dear members of the Australian OSM community, We are a group of researchers from the Human-Centred Computing Group of Aalborg University, Denmark. The OpenStreetMap project provides an example of a highly collaborative and distributed community working towards a common goal. As such, this makes the OSM project a highly suitable place to study to better understand the needs of online collaboration. In our current study, we are interested in the collaboration between human contributors and bots/automated edits, and what can be done to further improve this interaction. We realise this is a highly contentious topic within the OSM community, and we would therefore love to hear from a broad representation of OSM contributors. We are running a short survey - which should take roughly five to ten minutes of your time. We'd greatly appreciate any input you can provide. No personal information will be collected, and we will share our insights with the OSM community. If you wish to enter the raffle for a $25 Amazon voucher, you can leave your email address at the end of the survey. Our survey can be found here: https://csaau.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_8iUBOKYj8G6sLYy.
