What the wiki actually says is: addr:housename The name of a house. This is sometimes used in some countries like England instead of (or in addition to) a house number. which does *not* imply that if there is a addr:housenumber there should be no addr:housename, but on the contrary indicates that the two properties can be used at the same time. -- Andy Mabbett @pigsonthewing http://pigsonthewing.org.uk ___ Talk-au mailing list Talk-au@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-au

Have you considered adding Wikidata IDs as part of your work? For example, many of the water bodies you're working on will exist in Wikidata; and you can create items there for those that do not. Documentation starts here: https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Wikidata and I'm happy to advise if needed. -- Andy Mabbett @pigsonthewing http://pigsonthewing.org.uk ___ Talk-au mailing list Talk-au@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-au

[talk-au] Wikidata IDs in OSM
Hi folks, Up here in the UK, and elsewhere, we're adding Wikidata IDs to objects in OSM. For example: http://www.openstreetmap.org/way/22814079 includes the ID "Q5642705", which refers to: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q5642705 Firstly, I'd like to encourage you to add IDs manually, as described at: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:wikidata Secondly, we have had success in using a bot to add IDs automatically, but the bot approval list requires local agreement. How would you feel about us, or one of you (I think the code can be shared), doing so for all of Australia, or on a state-by-state (or other division) basis? -- Andy Mabbett @pigsonthewing http://pigsonthewing.org.uk ___ Talk-au mailing list Talk-au@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-au
[talk-au] Series of Wikidata talks & meetups, in February
Time I delurked, and said hello... I'm a mapper in the English West Midlands (Birmingham, to be precise) and you may know me from SotM 2014, or SotMUS 2015. I'll be visiting Australia for three weeks in February, to give talks about Wikidata, and Wikipedia's GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums) collaborations. There will also be social meetups for Wikimedians, and I'd like to extend an invitation to OSMappers, to come along and learn or ask questions about Wikidata, and how it links with OSM, as well as meeting me and your local Wikimedia community, and informing me about OSM in Australia. The draft itinerary, with more events to be added, is at: https://wikimedia.org.au/wiki/Wikidata_Tour_Down_Under and I hope to meet some of you soon. -- Andy Mabbett @pigsonthewing http://pigsonthewing.org.uk ___ Talk-au mailing list Talk-au@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-au
