2009-08-18 Thread Pierre-Luc Beaudoin
Hi,

Just to inform the list that I finished importing the file Yan Morin
prepared for me covering the Côte-de-Beaupré region, just East of Québec
City. The NTS Tile (AFAIK) is 021M2.

I'll go over the missing names in my next trips visiting my parents.

[Talk-ca] Vancouver OSM Mapping Party Workshop

2009-08-18 Thread Sam Vekemans
Hi all,

On Sunday September 13th 10am-6pm, in Vancouver meeting at the Vancouver
Central Library Concourse.

Learn how to Map the Trails!
Were hosting a mapping party workshop, so everyone can learn how to share
all the trails.
I'll give an overview of whats going on now with the Canada Import, the aim
is to be done by the end of this year. (That's a lot of extra details, that
the average mapper doesn't need to know about)

But for now, there are TONNES of trails that still need to be mapped out.
Were going to be learning to use
"walking-papers" as well as with your GPS device, and learn how to share and
post tracks.

We will try answer most every question you may have.

But more importantly, it's a day to have fun hiking/walking/cycling ... or
even driving (for those so inclined) and be out on the trails!

I look forward to seeing everyone there.

Please RSVP.

and for those attending from TrailsBC (it's the day after the AGM)

I'm using Google Calendar, so some of you might see this again. (this time i
wont attach an event to discussion lists) :-)

Cheers,
Sam Vekemans

Re: [Talk-ca] Can-Amera border, states and provinces.

A better approach would be for mapnik to look at the area covered and
try to adjust the level of administrative boundaries displayed based on
how much fits. Same for roads, of course. Basically, auto-adjusting
the style-sheet based on the amount of details it has room for.
