Does anyone else see a wooded area covering Canada?

I see a green background with little trees on the OSM layer.

Nakor,

New Brunswick does not currently have a road network that meets
the National Road Network (NRN) standard. Any New Brunswick Road network data
that you see in the CanVec files has been collected by NRCan. New Brunswick is
currently trying to put together a program to create and maintain a road
network. The goal is to have a program in place soon - data to come later.
Sorry but I can't provide any dates.

Bernie.

I have also noticed that some tiles does not have all street names. For example
the tile covering Pointe-a-la-Croix, QC and Campbellton, NB have all street
names on QC side but only a few ones on NB side.

OK... I can set up one dedicated to Canvec imports. That's no problem
if that is the preferred practice. I do remember now reading that
reference in the Wiki that states " Consider creating a new user for
the import" but I interpreted the reason for doing so as not
applicable as I was not adding anything to the source tags. So I did
what was asked... I considered it... but I didn't do it. Also, I am
not blindly or mechanically importing but editing and tweaking as I
go, so I guess there is a gray area as to what is CanVec and what is
"personal". I also label all the changesets as CanVec imports so that
they are more obvious in my own edit history. But if it makes things
easier to track... I'll continue from now on under a different account.

Thanks for the guidance.

Sam

http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Import/Guidelines#Use_a_dedicated_user_account
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Automated_Edits/Code_of_Conduct
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Data_working_group/Mechanical_Edit_Policy

Indeed. Separate accounts for each import source are the current best
practice. Not everybody is following this obviously. No harm in
trying to follow all of the best guidelines.

Having a separate account is advisable, because you don't know what
could happen to the data. If it for some reason turns out to come from a
shady source, then it could be reverted much easier if all the imports
were done with a separate account. Of course there are no doubts about
the CanVec status.

Another example is the license discussion. If you for some reason are
opposed to the ODbL and the new CT's, you can still use a second account
to import CanVec data for example, because you don't own any rights to
the CanVec data yourself. It is also much friendlier towards other
users, so they know that any modifications done to the CanVec data in
OSM aren't in vain, once the old license is abandoned.
