The triangle has been around for at least a couple of months. I suppose for the license change to be complete a current coastline file will have to be used for generating the slippy map, and thus the issue should go away soon. I'll keep an eye on it. Can we bug someone? We could bug somebody. This sort of rendering problem appears on occasion. Asking about it on the #osm irc channel will usually encourage the admins to update the coastline files. There is a new effort to detect these potential errors so that they can be removed. Perhaps Paul can suggest how we can use his coastline checker? Then we can fix other coastline issues and try to fix the rendering for several of them at once? ___ Talk-ca mailing list Talk-ca@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-ca
Re: [Talk-ca] canvec and other external sources
Bonjour Richard, I've modified my scripts to produce .osm files having the appropriate xml tag... . I'll introduce it in the Canvec.osm conversion process later today. Eventually, all of Canvec.osm files - Release 10 and later - will be processed that way. Thanks to Paul Best regards, Daniel -Original Message- From: Richard Weait [mailto:rich...@weait.com] Sent: April 9, 2012 09:20 To: Talk-CA OpenStreetMap Subject: [Talk-ca] canvec and other external sources Dear all, Paul Norman pointed this out to me. If canvec, or other external source data is created as an osm file, with instead of the ordinary that will protect a mapper who uses that data from a class of embarrassing accidents. When using a canvec file for reference, a mapper might have several file layers open in JOSM. Pressing upload with the wrong layer selected may upload data that was not intended or that duplicates existing data. upload="false" gives the mapper another chance to catch their error. A dialogue box is presented before uploading a layer based on a file with upload="false". To be clear, the data can still be uploaded. Another warning is offered before the upload so that the mapper can double-check the action. Do we agree that this would be an improvement to the CanVec data? Daniel, would you consider making this change for future CanVec product? I probably fixed the coastline near Ile Cadieux about 2-3 weeks ago, which could explain the issue. I've been fixing a lot of coastlines around Montreal and they tend to take about a month to show. I can't imagine how much time it is going to take for this zoom level. Richard, is there a way to refresh the planet shapefile used at lower zoom? Can we bug someone? I guess this is the shoreline_300.shp file. Thanks, Olivier -- http://www.olivierhill.ca/ ___ Talk-ca mailing list Talk-ca@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-ca
