Re: [Talk-ca] FME 2009 & OpenStreetMap
Thanks, now i dont need to go door to door looking for FME users :-) This makes sence, as long as we use the latest planet.osm file for when we start playing with the good stuff -CanVec soup. Ok, now i go back to school; learning how to write python scripts. Have we any thoughts -yeah or neah on adding the 'aquitec' tag? (might be useful for all other data) and is there a yeah or neigh on the square tile chopping and comparing before import idea (or do i have to explain with picture graphics?) thanks, Sam On 1/14/09, Michel Gilbert wrote: > Hi all, > > FME is very usefull for importing geospatial data. Re: [Talk-ca] FME 2009 & OpenStreetMap
Hi all, FME is very usefull for importing geospatial data. I have been using FME to import the boundaries and NRN Geobase (tests) . At this time, FME provides a reader for osm format but not a writer. However FME allows to execute python within your FME workspace. So I simulate an osm writer in python within my FME. If there are other FME users for importing Geobase data, I will be happy to share my workspaces. Re: [Talk-ca] FME 2009 & OpenStreetMap
Thanks, so that means that this application is similar to a drawing program that can make use of OSM's points, lines, shapes & tags. Cool, thanks for the clarification. [Talk-ca] FME 2009 & OpenStreetMap
Hi, i saw OpenStreetMap listed as one of the formats listed when looking at the press release. I am wondering in what way would this software be helpful? OpenStreetMap is a non-profit foundation (so it might be possable to use it for no cost)? I dont have that much knowledge about how useful it could be, so it would be nice to know.
