 Hi folks!

Here from Quebec city (Qc) we're starting a local OSM group of mapping users

Hope we'll have fun and a lot of mapping partys !

At first, we'd like to exchange working expriences with the gang of Toronto

Is there anybody here from Toronto ? (John Robb.Steve Singer, or )

Hi Bruno,

Great initiative! I'll try to follow it, albeit not closely. Just about 6000
km nowadays. ;) Will there be a mailing list or something? French is not an
issue.

Regarding work in the area: have a look at residential areas which are built
after 2009. Perhaps a couple of other roads have changed names in the
meantime. Also the info from the RTC was released under an open data license a
while back. Maybe it could be use to add more bus lines to Quebec City. And of
course the Bing imagery in the area is great, which could be put to good use
as well :)

There is also some work to be done to the Geobase roads which were imported in
2009 (by me or others). Those don't have names. It's still on my list to do
something about it (by either copying the names from the latest Canvec roads,
or replace them altogether if they aren't edited since the import), although I
must admit that it has sunken to the bottom.

Anyways, it's great to hear that a real community is growing at last :) I wish
you guys a lot of succes!

Frank

Dear Pierre,

That's awesome! Thank you for the link.

There were some shots of Steve Singer, mapping, as well as many
Toronto regulars at Mappy Hour, right at the end of the spot.

The next Toronto Mappy Hour is next Monday, 07 May 2012, where you can
meet the famous Steve Singer, and perhaps purchase an autograph. :-)

The video of the French news item on OSM was really well done although I could
not understand a word of the Radio Canada reporter or the news anchor. It
would be really great if we could get a link to an English version of this
story.

Bernie.

My understanding is that there is an English version, but it was not
picked up by CBC. I'll ask if it can be published. Or secretly,
back-channel, definitely not-published. :-)

Richard,

this was a more completed interview with Steve Singer and John Robb (what a
laugh) who both past a lot of their time on computers and with gps to find new
information.

To listen the audio, I copied the link, and used it directly into Vlc Media
player.

I wasn't able to get the audio.  Was it the same as the text?
