Hi.. and a warm welcome from me.

I am now subscribed to this mailing list (which I had not previously been
aware of) so I can more easily find myself being openly criticized by
certain "senior" individuals involved in Openstreetmap.org in future without
expecting prior private communications from them to try to address any
issues.

Unfortunately OSM has many communication mechanisms for different purposes ..
some of these overlap.

I think I'm subscribed on 6 of them at the moment, perhaps more, most of the
time I can ignore most of the conversations.

At times I do make comments ... sometimes light-hearted ... at other times
angered.

With aggrieved regards,
Dyserth

Anger dissipates over time.

Most people make mistakes and most of the time the aggrieved can make some
consideration to the errors of their fellow humans.

I certainly don't see myself as 'senior' in the OSM community ... just another
contributor.

Re: [Talk-GB] Large swaths of "heath" in Wales?

2017-02-12 Thread Dyserth
Hi all you happy people.

With regards to deleting the areas mapped by Sam888 all over Wales I frankly
did not want to block out or delete these areas as I felt it would have
meant modifying the map data too extensively, been very time consuming, and
you would have no way of knowing which were correct or not. I'll gladly go
along, as part of a project or otherwise if that was all agreed, and delete
all the areas which I think are wrong - MANUALLY - but didn't want to step
on other users toes.

Some areas are tagged as being edited by me as I have edited or placed
adjacent areas with nodes up against these "heath" polygons, but I have not
originated them.

I am as "legitimate" a mapper as any of the rest of you.

I do not use automated tools to map and never have done.

I have not bulk imported any datasets.

I have also never worked for a mapping company as has been alleged but give
my time freely to try to improve the map - whether I map all day or not is
frankly my business, and I can use my time how I see fit.

I have never operated under another username. I have one account.

As for being "uncommunicative" - there was absolutely NO attempt to directly
communicate with ME before you lot all got on your high horses and
self-righteously began lambasting my mapping as "crap" on an open forum, and
then decided it was best to edit lots of it so it did not render correctly.

I am now subscribed to this mailing list (which I had not previously been
aware of) so I can more easily find myself being openly criticized by
certain "senior" individuals involved in Openstreetmap.org in future without
expecting prior private communications from them to try to address any
issues.

Marco has kindly reverted his changeset 46000525. While it does clear off
the nasty (and for the most part pointless and incorrect) yellow/brown stain
all over the Snowdonia National Park - which to reiterate was not originally
put there by me - it also deletes ALL other correctly mapped heathland which
I have placed or edited in the past.

With aggrieved regards,
Dyserth

Re: [Talk-GB] Large swaths of "heath" in Wales?

2017-02-12 Thread Marco Boeringa

Hi all,

Dyserth contacted me through a changeset comment about the changes I
made and explaining his point of view. I have henceforth decided to
revert the changes I made involving his edits. I have also invited him
to join the Talk-GB discussion.

I have not yet reverted the other changes, in anticipation of some
further discussion of what to do with the really problematic features.

Anyway, anyone is free to do a revert of the remaining two changesets.

Side note: By the way, are there others having issues loading JOSM's
reverter plugin in the latest version of JOSM? After I switched to OAuth
and the latest JOSM, and additionally re-installed my machine with Win10
before that, I can not load the reverter plugin. It fails with an

"unable to find valid certification path to request target"

error. I have no problem uploading changes though, so the OAuth
authentication works. As a consequence, the revert has been done
manually by editing the saved local OSM data again and uploading it.

Marco
