[Talk-GB] Changeset Reversal: ok, who broke Scotland?

2012-01-02 Thread Jack Challen
Looking at the map around Inverness and in the Orkney Islandsit looks like the
coastline's been broken: Inverness and Kirkwall are both flooded according to
the map. This seems unlikely, even for rainy old Scotland. I don't have the
nous to fix this one myself I'm afraid, and I think it's been that way for a
while -- still struggling to find the changeset.

cheers

Re: [Talk-GB] UK-ST LEONARDS-ON SEA: CYCLE DATA COLLECTION MANAGEMENT CONTRACT

2009-06-04 Thread Jack Challen

 From: Peter Miller peter.mil...@itoworld.com
Incidentally, I was speaking to a senior professional person from the
South West a few days ago who was aware that OSM had just mapped MK
and was wishing that something similar could happen where he was. I
suggested that all he had to do was ask, be nice and offer warm beer
and pizzas at the end of the day from council funds!

Hmm... If it's anywhere near St. Austell I'd probably be willing to travel some
distance for some well-kept Admiral's Ale and a decent lamb jalfrezi

In fact I wouldn't be surprised if mapping progress exhibited something like
the Ballmer Peak[1]
The OSM mapping party: if you feed it, they will come...

[Talk-GB] The Lake District: Chris Jesty on the BBC's Mountain programme

2007-08-31 Thread Jack Challen
Hi,

I watched the 2nd or 3rd episode of the BBC's Mountain programme last night;
it feature a guy called Chris Jesty who is in the process of updating
Wainwright's Lake District guides.
I was wondering if any OSM people had any thoughts about giving him e.g. a
large-capacity datalogger - he walks from 5am _every_day_ (or had already
contacted him).

The only major problem I can see is if he's employed to do so and his employer
asserts copyright over the data.

Any thoughts?

cheers
