Nuts, I just this week got a etrex 20 for a little bit less than this.

I have owned a "20" for quite a while and subjectively the accuracy seems
better than the hcx I had before. Not sure if that is due to the glonass
support or just a more modern chipset. The interface hasn't improved much,
if at all. I preferred the cycling of pages on the older models to the
back button used on the new ones. My hcx bike mount had an irritating
rattle which the new one doesn't have so I guess that is an improvement.

Thanks Peter. I've been humming and hahing (however it is spelled)
for ages about whether to get one or not. So I now have, via the
Amazon link here:
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Merchandise#Amazon
and added a bike mount to the order (self-justified by the price
reduction, so effectively a freebie).

The price on Amazon has been up and down between £178 and £157 a few
times over the last week or so. See this price tracker:
http://uk.camelcamelcamel.com/Garmin-eTrex-Outdoor-Handheld-Unit/product/B00542NVS2

I might see if Go Outdoors will price match it - they say they will beat
the lower price by 10%, which would make the Etrex 30 £141 (plus £5 for
a discount card if you don't have one).

Amazon also have the Etrex 20 for £127, which seems a decent price.
The differences are it lacks a compass, barometric altimeter, and
support for heart rate, cadence, temperature sensors etc. So the Etrex
20 will be just as useful for most OSM mapping / surveying purposes etc.

If anyone on this list buys one, maybe they could write a review,
pointing out that people can "use it to contribute to OpenStreetMap,
