As I say this varies from council to council. One case which came up on this list a while back was an event facility in North London often used for wedding feasts. I actually queried why this wasn't listed on FHRS with the, as it turned out, wrong, local authority. It was definitely someone else's problem. I'm aware that many B&Bs are not present in the data in areas of rural Scotland. The recent article in the Guardian covered some of the other reasons why places are not registered. I imagine the FSA would be quite interested in learning anything non-anecdotal about the numbers of establishments which are not registered. [Talk-GB] No FHRS data on a food establishment
I've just added details for a pub where I stopped for a drink on Saturday. It obviously had about half of it's floor area given over to a dining room. It doesn't appear in the FHRS data. Reasons why might be: - The local council only updates the main database relatively infrequently (possibly annually) - They are dilatory in covering all establishments - The establishment has changed ownership & a new inspection hasnt taken place. I suspect in this case it is the third option. I have extracted FHRS data from time to time since around October 2013. In this case there are older records for this pub. I'd just like to bring this to people's attention, because the old records can help. (It's one reason why we keep former business names on shops etc in Nottingham: it greatly assists reconciling with other data sources).
