The first Nottingham pub meeting of the year will be tonight in the
Lincolnshire Poacher.from 19:30.  Usual wiki link:

[Talk-GB] Nottingham Pub Meeting tonight

Just the usual reminder that it is the regular Nottingham/East Midlands pub
meeting tonight: https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Nottingham/Pub_Meetup


To do something a little different for pre-pub mapping we will be meeting
at the Left Lion outside the Council House at 18:30. The idea is to more
systematically check POIs in the City Centre (e.g., on a quarterly basis
associated with the pub meeting)..

To this end I ahve been working over the last couple of days to find a way
to generate a '1-D' view of each street in the city centre. I'm reasonably
pleased at how far I've got (a list of named POIs, distance along street
from origin point & whether on left or right), although some additional
work is required to format this to be usable in the field. Available as a
CSV on my Dropbox account:

Sorry for being a bit late with this reminder: have not been near enough a
screen.

Usual arrangements EXCEPT meeting point (18:30) for mapping will be corner
of Brook Street & Gedling Street
 (outside Notts WT
HQ, and opposite Sneinton Market). The aim is to capitalise on all the
mapping Alex Kemp has done over the last few weeks and try and get as much
detail for the Stonebridge area (bounded by St Matthias Road, Carlton Road,
Bath Street and Beacon Hill Road. Most of the area has been re-developed
and Bing imagery is out-of-date.

[Talk-GB] Nottingham Pub Meeting, June 2014

Next Nottingham pub meeting will be this coming Tuesday at our usual venue:
The Lincolnshire Poacher.

I will not be at the pub until 20:00 as I plan to attend the launch of
Jones the Planner's new book Towns in Britain at Nottingham Contemporary.
Consequently I am not planning any pre-pub gathering for mapping.

If anyone else is interested in the book launch, just send an email to the

I've found Jones the Planner's observations about British urban
environments of great interest, not least because I find I cant but help
forming ideas about these places when mapping them.

[Talk-GB] Nottingham Pub Meeting will be in Worksop on Tuesday

As I've been busy losing my voice by talking too much at SotM13, but I
thought I'd give a little advance notice that we will have the Nottingham
pub meeting in Worksop on Tuesday 10th September.

This is because the OSM HOT team are staying at the Base Camp, a bunk
house, in Clumber Park: and it seems a nice opportunity to meet with them.

I will catch the train leaving Nottingham just before 6 on the Robin Hood
Line: and return on the 22:20 train from Worksop. Thus I will get to
Worksop around 7.

I am not sure exactly which pub we will start in, because the Mallard (at
Worksop station does not do a wide range of food). I think the pub will be
the White Hart which is about 200 m from the Mallar,d but will provide
proper details in a few hours time. We can then adjourn to the Mallard
after eating not jus tfor the good beer, but also to make catching trains
home easier.
