Re: [Talk-gb-westmidlands] Sandwell Gritting routes
Hi Andy M Motorways are the responsibility of the Highways Agency, not the local authority. Probably don't need to grit M5, M6 etc because the average top speed is zero mph (tongue in cheek). I may not be able to join you. At work we are having a gas supply put in and someone has to be here from 0800 to 2000 - though I doubt any British Gas engineer does routine work after 1500! Iain On 29/07/10 18:07, Andy Robinson (blackadder) wrote: Iain, would be great to see you next Thursday if you can make it. During the summer we normally do a spot of mapping individually first before meeting up at around 8:00pm for food and a pint or two. If you want to come along before 8 and get acquainted with the process on the ground then perhaps one of the others would be happy to meet up with you a little earlier. Thus I've copied this email to the west mids mailing list. Can anyone who's going meet Iain before 8pm? Details of meet location and the area being mapped are always on our wiki page here: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Mappa_Mercia . Looks like The Felix Holt will be were we will congregate after a spot of mapping. Re: [Talk-gb-westmidlands] OS StreetView tracing vs surveying
I am with Brian. I have never taken data from another source and mapped it within OSM. Would it be worth covering this at Kidderminster next Saturday. On another point. I have mapped two electricity sub stations, one near home using my GPS handheld, and a second near work using my Android tracker. Neither have appeared on the map. Why? Mary On 12 April 2010 12:59, Brian Prangle bpran...@googlemail.com wrote: Hi everyone I know that there are strong opinions on surveying being more fun and more accurate and richer in POI/addressing/bustops/etc detail but given the scale and remoteness of what's left to be done in the Black Country, I can't help feeing that we should make use of all this OS data to complete the job and at least make the map look complete, knowing that we can still survey to get the detail/richness we want later. OSM in my opinion will always look like a poor cousin despite its greater content while it's still got great gobs of white space, when OS data is complete( well as complete as is possible until we complete the job as OSMers) and available online I've held back ( well apart from 3 or 4 streets in an isolated little pocket of Sandwell that's 3KM up hill from the nearest railway station and has been bugging me for several months!) until I can get your views Regards Brian ___ Talk-gb-westmidlands mailing list Talk-gb-westmidlands@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-gb-westmidlands ___ Talk-gb-westmidlands mailing list Talk-gb-westmidlands@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-gb-westmidlands
