[OSM-talk-ie] Eircode Next steps?
The new postcode system was launched today. https://finder.eircode.ie Rather than discussing the pros and cons, can we look at OSM's next steps? Also have a look at the location finding resources added by the interactive maps etc. Can we use any of these to our benefit? ___ Talk-ie mailing list Talk-ie@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-ie

[OSM-talk-ie] Consolidating address fields
Hi, The following tags are currently used for addresses. Even with the, eh, variation :) available in Irish addresses, I think there could be some consolidation. Re: [OSM-talk-ie] Submission by OSM Ireland to the public consultation on Ireland's Open Data Initiative
Hi all, So there has been a great response to this, with close to 70 suggestions for improvements, so thank you all for giving your time to this, it is greatly appreciated. I have opened the document now for people to add their names under the authors field on the front page. It will stay open for a day or so, I have to submit it on Wednesday. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1bR9KwaP9IgBpVm_btn8EOa0j3rIe2SPcQjosmU1ZkOo/edit?usp=sharing Thanks, Dave On Fri, Jul 3, 2015 at 2:07 AM, Dave Corley davecor...@gmail.com wrote: Hi all, Recently Minister Howlin launched another public consultation on June 15th with regards to the strategy around Irelands Open Data Initiative. If nobody objects, I would like the finished submission to be considered as a response from OSM Ireland as a whole. You can find the submission document here - https://docs.google.com/document/d/1bR9KwaP9IgBpVm_btn8EOa0j3rIe2SPcQjosmU1ZkOo/edit?usp=sharing I have set it so anyone can comment, rather than anyone can edit simply because it'll become very messy and difficult to track if there are 10-20 people editing. I hope many of you will take this opportunity to contribute to this as the process around setting up open data from a government perspective is at a crucial stage where the decisions made over the next few months will likely be the foundation for things to come for many years and there's a lot of good data sitting on govt. servers that I would hope we could make use of down the road. The response is due no later than July 15th so I would like to leave this run for the next week to 10 days, make any changes suggested through your comments / feedback and then share a final draft at which point, anyone who wishes to, can add their name as a contributing author, before finally submitting it on or around the 14th July. It should be noted that the consultation is open for anyone to provide feedback so if you wish to submit a response personally you can do that too. [OSM-talk-ie] Openstreetmap gb/uk
Hi, RobJN asked me to forward his diary post to this list: http://www.openstreetmap.org/user/RobJN/diary/35372 They are thinking of setting up an osmf UK/gb local chapter. Since we're setting up an Isle of Ireland one, there's some overlap for Northern Ireland contributors. Consider replying to his survey, whichever set of local chapters you feel like adhering to. -- Vincent Dp ___ Talk-ie mailing list Talk-ie@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-ie

Nitpicking here, but... Another example is the text descriptions of Electoral Districts (ED) (SI 12 and 13 of 1968) for Dublin City and County... Shouldn't this be Electoral Divisions?
