Re: [OSM-talk-ie] Round towers
Hi, While we are discussing towers, there are many masts that are mis-tagged as towers. This is typically with mobile phone masts and similar. A man_made=tower is a building and has (normally internal) floor space, albeit sometimes very modest https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:man_made=tower A man_made=mast is not a building and does not have *internal* floor space, although some may have a deck. https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:man_made%3Dmast Some related tags like tower:type and tower:construction are shared between towers and masts. Note that some vents for mines and railway tunnels can be easily misidentified as stub round towers, e.g. take a look at these on Bing. https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/5126260873#map=19/52.75258/-7.69826 https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/1680956627#map=19/51.90450/-8.46172 /teaching people how to suck lemons. :) Colm --- Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Tom's suggestion would be more in line with the norm i.e. Start with a pre-existing tag and then expand on it On 19 Feb 2018 21:49, "Donal Hunt" wrote: > +1 for the suggestion. > > I think a proposal for a specific type that covers Irish round towers is > probably warranted.
