I have finished the Dublin Counties. They can be viewed at overpass-turbo.eu/s/GNq or by entering political_division=local_const and existed=2014- or existed=2019- in "County Dublin"into the wizard. Alternatively at u.osmfr.org/m/299562 For anyone not familiar with umap, You can drag the image and zoom using the plus or minus or with the mouse wheel. The LEA name will appear when you hover over an area. Using the 'disc layers' icon on left you can switch different layers on-off. Using the 'paper layers' icon you can vary the appearance of the background map. ___ Talk-ie mailing list Talk-ie@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-ie

Unfortunate precedent in Meath They have split EDs between 2 MDs in the cases of Ratoath, Ashbourne and Laytown-Bettystown EDs. Until now townlands nested perfectly in EDs which turn nested perfectly In MDs. This is not now the case. I doubt that new part EDs will be created to reflect this split so we live with it for the next 5 years. Colm is correct, the canonical data is always the SI. The only difference I found is that The PDF report recommends EG Westport(sp)-(sp)Belmullet MD where the SI orders that Westport-Belmullet (sic) MD is created, I used no spaces anyway. I have found no other differences. Pick your County from this complete list of the Sis, remember that none have been published for Cork City and County yet. They are imminent. http://www.irishstatutebook.ie/eli/ResultsTitle.html?q=local+electoral+2018 I did do West Cork MD along with Bantry-West Cork and Skiberreen-West Cork LEAs, the ones with all the islands. I will pause Cork there and let someone check them after the Sis issue for Cork. ___ Talk-ie mailing list Talk-ie@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-ie

New MD or LEA existed=2019- Continuing MD or LEA existed=2014- place=region tag added to every MD (admin_level=8) as there are far too many Tuam s in Nominatim. Cannot do Cork City as we will need a proper boundary and townlands and EDs are to be split properly so that an admin_level 10 nests inside a 9 8 and 7 properly. Just look at Ovens in the south west. A sliver of Ovens ED and 3 Townlands transfer to the city. https://www.corkcity.ie/en/media-folder/public-info/cork-city-boundary-map.p df We need a non generalised boundary to do this properly. I have a request pending with the Cork boundary transition team (since I haven't found a licence-free version of the data yet and they haven't spray-painted the new borders "on the ground"). They haven't responded so far (have emailed them twice) so if anyone has any contacts in the city / county councils, please give them a poke. Thanks! [OSM-talk-ie] New Local Electoral Areas 2018
Hi, It is useful to have the current electoral areas. Putting the date on them indicates (accuracy aside) they are the current ones. Having past ones listed (and dated) means that one can avoid the situation of someone finding an old source and editing the current boundaries to fit historical boundaries. It is also nice to have and to be able to understand how boundaries have evolved. As an aside, when roads get realigned, statutory boundaries do **not** change, so users should be careful in such circumstances.
