[Talk-GB] geomob podcast
Have you found the excellent geomob podcast yet? If not, it is worth checking it out. This week's episode showcases the cartographic career of Steve Chilton, and more importantly his work with and for the OpenStreetMap project over many years, including his thoughts on the good, and not so good, aspects of OSM. [And will he have got a mention in for his fell running books?!] Episode at: https://thegeomob.com/podcast/episode-6 Geomob is a series of regular events in European cities for location based service creators and enthusiasts.___ Talk-GB mailing list Talk-GB@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-gb
[Talk-GB] Vector OSM
I saw there was a discussion about vector tiles from OSM (…. at the SOTM 2018 BOF session with Richard Fairhurst?). I am giving a talk about OSM in June and wondered what the latest situation is. So, is there any moves to free server space and do the work to generate vector tiles directly. Likewise is any third-party delivering vector tiles from OSM data that I may have missed? All, Following on from Rob's email the contact person for Getmapping is: Jake Lauder - jake.lau...@getmapping.com mailto:jake.lau...@getmapping.com Web:http://www.getmapping.com Address: Virginia Villas, High Street, Hartley Wintney, RG27 8NW If making contact I suggest you mention the discussion that he and Steve Chilton had recently at the GeoForum2019 meeting at Lancaster University. Also stating the obvious: The request should outline what OSM plan to do (tracing) and where the data will be used. Re: [Talk-GB] More imagery
Rob, Thanks for the response. In fact I would prefer to hand over to OSMUK or some more formal part of the project, particularly if they have experience of such discussions/negotiations. I don't know what the level of content is. They market themselves as leading provider in UK so I don't think global. I will email OSMUK first before going to the company, just to see how the land lies (pun intended!). Re: [Talk-GB] More imagery
Dan, Thanks for response. Don't know specifics at the moment. That is part of the discussion that needs to take place. [Talk-GB] More imagery
Would OSM benefit from another imagery source? Getmapping have tentatively offered theirs. See: https://itsahill.wordpress.com/2019/03/05/edina-geoforum-2019/ and get back to me via any of the normal methods.
