Sorry for the late response.

User natureman did that edit, arguing "There is no island between
Daecheong-do(대청도) and Yeonpyeong-do(연평도), so ROK doesn't possess the gap."
However, Regarding my investigation, ROK argues that they must possess the
area under 'Northern Limit Line'[2], but DPRK argues under 'Korea West Sea
Maritime Military Demarcation line'[3].

I think of this as an example of the disputed territory between two
nations, but I've no idea about the situation...

[Talk-ko] Boundaries

2012-08-20 Thread Robert Helvie
I just wanted to say thanks to user "namuori" for adding in the province
boundaries for Korea. That is one thing that has been missing from Korea
for a while.

Also, I would like to make a suggestion/request. Now that we have
boundaries, please do not connect (join) the boundaries to any streets,
rivers, trails (any ways) in the OSM data. It is perfectly acceptable to
have the boundaries follow or parallel a way in OSM with separate nodes.

And in fact, if the boundary is kept separate from the other way data, it
makes working with OSM data much easier.
If more boundaries are added, it is better to not use existing ways (roads,
rivers, trails) as part of the relationship. Just add any additional ways
needed for any boundary relationships.
Keeping boundary data separate for now will help when new people start
editing (easier to understand).
And it makes easier to render and use OpenStreetMap on GPS and mobile
devices.

Thanks again to "namuori" and thanks to all the mappers in Korea. Things
are starting to look much better.

Remember don't copy from other maps or imagery (except Bing [when
adjusted]) and have fun!
