I don't have any idea how to turn images shot at an angle to orthophoto images. They are a little harder to process and will generate a larger fault; but it can be done this way. Most important thing is creating ground control points. Make sure you have visually identifiable objects on the ground that you can use to get as gps coordinates that are as *exact* as possible I know that you are a bit left in the blind as not the entire process is well documented, I will try to see if something can be done about this. Basically define a shape in the ground plane you photograph, a square is usually the most suited. you know that the square on the photo is a projection from the square that you see from the top. by selecting the square, it is possible to create a transformation matrix that tilts and rotatess that square back. at the cost of non-uniformpixel density. tricky parts are lense correction. tools like efoto and the opencv code tijs created for signfinder do this already. what lacks for us is the GPS (outer corner alignment) to put it into a WMS using a world file. [OSM-talk-nl] Mikrokopter Aerial photography
Hi, I saw on OpenStreetMap wiki that osm-nl mailing list is where the action is regarding Aerial photography with Mikrokopter. I have read these wiki pages: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/OpenStreetPhoto/QuadCopter http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/OpenStreetPhoto I'm reading your blog via translation service, but I'm writing you in English as I don't trust what online translation from English to Dutch :) - Have you made aerial photos with Mikrokopter? - What software do you use to stitch photos into one high resolution? - What software do you use to calibrate stitched photo so that it is correctly gps positioned and that users can trace over it? Thank you all for starting this great project! Cheers from Croatia, Valent. -- pratite me na twitteru - www.twitter.com/valentt http://kernelreloaded.blog385.com/ linux, blog, anime, spirituality, windsurf, wireless registered as user #367004 with the Linux Counter, http://counter.li.org. We have contact information of parties that *DO* have the instructions regarding flying and flight preparation to take the steps necessary to be able to convert QC aerialphoto's to georectified ortho imagery usable for GIS and mapping, but I am not sure their entire toolchain is open source.
