Re: [talk-ph] Time for another mapping party?

2009-09-26 Thread Jim Morgan
Hi,

Just got back from UK - flew in last night among all the craziness, but somehow
managed to luck out a taxi.

Anyway, I'm in for the Ortigas or McKinley Hills mappings. Where is CAMANAVA?
As a side note, I'm not sure Carlos Cedan will take us on his tour if we're
mapping it, as surely that would obviate the need for his services!

Jim

[talk-ph] Tropical Storm Ondoy: are you guys ok?

2009-09-26 Thread Andre Marcelo-Tanner
ya how can we use OSM to help everyone? Any ideas aside from what
GMANews.tv is already doing? Maybe a community edited map of various
things needed around the metro.

Re: [talk-ph] Tropical Storm Ondoy: are you guys ok?

2009-09-26 Thread ian lopez
Maybe we should do something - probably re-activate the Humanitarian OSM Team.
Also, I realized that GMANews.TV used Google Maps for their interactive map,
supposedly showing the location of areas that have persons trapped in the
flood. It also has an accompanying description of such locations and that is AN
EPIC FAIL, to quote some humor site.

What could we learn from this? Aside from the obvious, maybe we should add more
housenumbers. And "teach" our media not to use a "FAIL map", to quote a twitter
update. Let's just hope that Maning, Ed, and the rest are OK.
