There is no feature like this that I know of.

However, there is a feature that can block editing by a specific user.
http://www.openstreetmap.org/blocks

A user should be a Moderator to be able to create temporary blocks on
other users.
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Web_front_end#Permissions_and_roles

The OSM foundation's Data Working Group is tasked to assign a
Moderator privileges. There are no criteria at the moment. I don't
know if there is a PH contributor who is a moderator.

just wondering ...

is there a way, or, I hope there is a way where the roads and POIs can be
"locked" by "qualified or certified" mappers. Where certain edits
(especially for changes to already correct entities in the map) can only be
done by such mappers? Or maybe where such mappers can easily retract the

just wondering ...

Re: [talk-ph] Commonwealth now connects to Quirino Highway?

2010-04-18 Thread Eugene Alvin Villar
Maybe there's no need to actually go and take GPS tracks. Getting an
accurate positioning is not really useful at this point since no one can
pass through anyway. We can retrack using GPS when the road is opened for
traffic.

For now it seems that estimating is good since the right of way is visible
on the satellite image. (Unless they are demolishing some residential roads
in the area?)

2010-04-18 Thread Anthony G. Balico
That's a must! :)

Will try to find time to get gps tracks on it. This leads me to a funny
experience i had with Mindanao Ave extension. I once planned to sneak
and bike the ongoing construction from quirino ave to valenzuela. But
those leighton dump trucks are gigantic up close it scared me of getting
crushed like a tiny ant. We'll see if commonwealth ext is possible :)

Follow-up: Yup, he does seem to have a non-public trace uploaded (which is
accessible as anonymous traces in Potlatch and other editors) and he
completely adjusted the roads to match the zigzags of the trace. I am now
trying to revert his edits.

You can use the following changeset analysis to check out his shape edits:

http://osm.cdauth.eu/history-viewer/changeset.php?id=4410576

I've already sent him a message, by the way.

[talk-ph] Need help in analyzing the changesets from a user

2010-04-18 Thread Eugene Alvin Villar
This user has edited many roads
in Metro Manila.

These two changesets are quite problematic:
http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/changeset/4410576 (update taguig and
tondo)
http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/changeset/4421045 (aligned road)

He has no public traces and he has changed the shape of some roads for the
worse.

I think that he has recorded some traces and didn't realize that the GPS is
affected by the urban canyon effect.

[talk-ph] a fixme garmin map in development

2010-04-18 Thread maning sambale
Hi,

I am currently developing yet another OSM-PH Garmin Map. This map is
designed for map fixing not for navigation. I extracted data dump
reports from openstreetbugs and keepright. See sample image here:
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4058/4529961403_1c8e0e90b3_o.png

Now I need your help.

keepright is very useful to correct routing and other bugs in the map.
Bringing this report into your device for field verification is very
useful, however, some of the suggested fixes do not even need field
verification. I want to know in your experience, which of the
reported errors need actual field verification. The detailed report
for keepright is here (check the section: Currently the following
checking procedures are implemented):
http://keepright.ipax.at/

Or if such kind of map is useful at all :)

Any ideas?
