Re: [talk-ph] more routing questions ...

2010-05-05 Thread maning sambale
Related to routing, I mentioned this before. I am documenting
inter-town routing.

Starting from Luneta Park KM 0, I am using yournavigation to test
routing leading to the rough location of each town in the Philippines.
When routing fails, I edit the data and revisit in a few days.

The spreadsheet is here:
https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0Au2WZQ1DwK_xdHdMT0tUUzh5a0lnUkljM1hJTENiRlEhl=en

Anyone is welcome to add more yournavigation links and comment if
routing provided is OK.
So far, I was able to test and fix several towns in Bulacan, Cavite,
Batangas, Laguna, Nueva Ecija, Rizal and Ilocos.

The route is very long which makes it very difficult to debug.  I
suggest you add intermediate points in between like this:

 http://yournavigation.org/?flat=14.5928flon=121.0587wlat=13.878664461713wlon=121.12744405208wlat=13.797330599087wlon=121.06992163242wlat=13.76264491244wlon=121.05207153142tlat=12.5962tlon=121.5263833v=motorcarfast=1layer=mapnik

Zoom in to waypoint number 2 and you will see some routing errors
along the Apolinario Mabini Roundabout.  This intersection is a little
bit complicated and I dare not touch it as I'm not familiar in the
 area.

Testing your route with the OSM-PH Garmin Map (updated yesterday), the
route from STAR Tollway to Mindoro is OK.

 Several possible causes of error:

 1. Yournavigation routing data is not updated.  Although you can see
the mapnik rendering as updated.  The underlying routing graph used by
Gosmore (the routing engine) is not updated.  Try to contact the main
 developer:
 http://www.openstreetmap.org/message/new/Lambertus

 2.  Along the way I did found some unconnected highways (particularly
within Batangas City proper).  I fixed a couple but I may have missed
 others.

The above is supposed to be a route from Manila (EDSA) to the main highway
junction at Roxas Mindoro as called from the waypointsdotph website.  As you
can see, it routes nicely along the entire length of Mindoro, and it even
includes the RoRo way from Batangas Pier (nice!)  But it seems to be cut at
Batangas Pier ... the route from Manila is not there ... could this be a
 simple node merge?

Another puzzling example ... please try:
 http://yournavigation.org/?flat=14.5928flon=121.0587tlat=12.5877tlon=121.516

The above is supposed to be a route very similar to the above, but this time
it should route further down into the town of Roxas.  But, as you will see,
it shows only a short segment of a street in Roxas.  I checked the ways in
JOSM and the nodes seem to be well connected (merged)  ... can anyone give
me a clue on why this happens?

 Many thanks.

Thanks Maning ... I got so excited that it can route across islands as long
as the ferry routes are well linked ... I am now adding the RoRo routes
along the SRNH so hopefully it can reach as far down south as possible.

Re: [talk-ph] more routing questions ...

2010-05-05 Thread maning sambale
@ ed,

when you create ferry routes make sure it is connected to the nearest
pier service road. Routing won't work if if ferry routes are not
connected to a road.

btw, ferry routing is also supported in the osm-ph garmin map.
Although inter-island ferry routing can be problematic sometimes.
