[talk-ph] recent crash problems to osmphgps mapsource/roadtrip installers

2011-03-29 Thread maning sambale
Dear osmphgps users and mappers,

There are some recent crash problems with the mapsource and roadtrip
installers of osmphgps. See detailed issue report here:
https://github.com/maning/osmphgps/issues#issue/10

I suspect that there are some problems with the current data. I am
looking into the mkgmap error logs to squash down data problems. As a
result I have suspended the daily update to last the working extract
(20110321). This is to ensure that users can continue downloading the
map even though it is outdated by a couple of days.

The daily compile is continuing, only the upload to the public links
were disabled. This is for me to monitor what problems are fixed on a
daily basis. If you want to help in squashing some of the data
problems, check the daily error logs here:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/607635/osm-ph_gps_maps/latest/mkgmap.log.0.txt?dl

Just ignore the reported error related to motorway exits like this:
2011/03/29 18:30:46 WARNING (StyledConverter): philippines.osm:
Motorway exit null
(http://www.openstreetmap.org/?mlat=14.15728&mlon=121.26226&zoom=17)
has no motorway! (either make the exit share a node with the motorway
or specify the motorway ref with a exit:road_ref tag)

Thanks and apologies!

2011-03-29 Thread tutubi
so it's really the map having problems. yesterday i thought it was
mapsource, i tried to re-install mapsource...then downloaded again to
re-install the map to no avail when I PMed you

the error must have been introduced last week. i update my map weekly
and tried to update before i come here in davao

can we just rollback or try to check the changes made last week?

thanks

2011-03-29 Thread Jun Martin
I've recently discovered that roads have been deleted in some areas in
Pampanga, particularly the main brgy. Cabalantian road in Bacolor town.
Even the west Megadike road has been deleted! I'm trying my best to
find more time to correct errors and add roads (whether new or deleted).

A highly technical solution to find out where the problem is is to
slice the Philippine extract and compile each slice. The slice that
crashes contains the data error and we can probably further slice that
to zero in on the problem.
