[talk-ph] routing errors in davao city

2011-03-30 Thread tutubi
hi!

anyone based in davao? was there for 2 days (tuesday and wednesday) again
after 7 years and boy, davao is really booming!

Since I already stored the coordinates of my destination prior to my trips,
i noticed routing errors caused by JP Laurel depicted as dual-carriageway
that should only be a single-carriageway, 4 lane highway that's actually
davao's main road

the only segments i noticed where it should be depicted as dual are those
near the Bajada interchange, and portions near Victory mall (where turn
restriction should also be placed) and probably near C.M. Recto near Marco
Polo

another such road is C.P Garcia leading to the airport and probably portions
of davao-agusan highway

Davao City has great coverage but routing is problematic due to the
dual-carriageways (a similar case in Cebu City's Archbishop Reyes)

Hope we can clean things up. I'll be going back there in a few months time

2011-03-30 Thread maning sambale
FYI,

Compilation is now back to normal. I'm using the pbf format instead
of the usual OSM xml. The current philippines xml file is ~400 MB
already and my compile machine probably can't cope with the large data
anymore. A problem I am happy to deal with anyway.

Apologies for the 2-3 days downtime.

[talk-ph] Mkgmap errors

2011-03-30 Thread Ian Haylock
Hi,

Here's one of the motorway errors that I don't think should appear in the
log :

2011/03/29 20:12:32 WARNING (StyledConverter): philippines.osm: Motorway
exit Gate 3 (
http://www.openstreetmap.org/?mlat=14.60062&mlon=121.07191&zoom=17) has no
motorway! (either make the exit share a node with the motorway or specify
the motorway ref with a exit:road_ref tag)

The giveaway is that it's called "Gate 3." If you look at it in JOSM you'll
see it's a gate on a residential street.

Cheers, Ian

P.S I've been fixing some of the errors with the relations, and polygons.
Some were actually made by me Whoops.

Re: [talk-ph] MapOSMatic

2011-03-30 Thread Jim Morgan
I contacted the guys at MapOSMatic to give some feedback. I felt that while it
was a superb tool at some zoom levels (eg outputting a map of Makati area),
that it lacked a bit when you zoomed in closer, or out further.

Here is a reply from David Mentre at MapOSMatic. Development is evidently under
way, and it looks set to get even better. I wish I was a coder ...

Hello Jim,

Many thanks for your very positive feedback!

In fact, we are using a fixed zoom level (I can't remember which one right now).

Our intent was to provide a certain level of details on all maps,
whatever is the zoom level of a map. But we agree that this approach
might not satisfy all use cases.

I have added a task for this, so the feature wish is recorded:

Regarding the choice of various items, we are working on it, we a set
of predefined stylesheets. You can see an example of it on our
development version: http://dev.maposmatic.org/

Of course! :-)
  http://savannah.nongnu.org/projects/maposmatic/

We have also a mailing list, an IRC channel, etc. All patches are welcome! ;-)

As I said, the next version of MapOSMatic will have a set of
predefined stylesheet. But even with current MapOSMatic code, if you
install it on your own computer you can tailor the Mapnik rendering
stylesheet at will.

Best regards,
david
