[talk-ph] how about mapping parties for car clubs/forums?
i also frequent several car forums and car clubs though not actually a warm body at EBs but many times GPS navigation is a topic. how about reaching out to those clubs/forums to let them know how to contiribute rather than just be passive users and oftentimes complain of wrong data that they themselves can correct or ping the right people just a thought :P -- --- I explore, therefore I blog. http://www.backpackingphilippines.com ___ talk-ph mailing list talk-ph@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-ph

Hmmm, it seems that only OSM map tiles are used as a background to the GPS points. It would be nice if they also used OSM data to perform reverse geocoding. :-) On Thu, Jun 9, 2011 at 1:27 PM, maning sambale wrote: > See here: http://www.philtrack.com/ > An intro video here: http://nfo4you.com/philtrack/intro/ > -- > cheers, > maning ___ talk-ph mailing list talk-ph@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-ph

They used to have it down the bottom once logged in as a client. That is where the OpenGTS actually Starts, the rest is a custom front end. Re: [talk-ph] Current state of GPS SatNav in the Philippines
>> 8. Other brands: Tomtom, Magellan, etc.: Using unknown maps, but there >> are experimental OSM maps for Magellan. Tomtom owns Tele Atlas, a map data company. And there are some satnav apps that use Tele Atlas data. A prominent example is the Blackberry Maps app. (Though Blackberry has decided to switch to Bing Maps for new smartphones last month.) I recently got the chance to play around with the Maps app of Blackberry and it has detailed map data but only for Metro Manila. The rest of the country is blank. And the data seems to be around 2009. Surprisingly, the app uses Google Maps for search so you can find relatively new establishments but only for coordinates. Here's the 2009 Tele Atlas press release saying they added maps for the Philippines (and other countries in Asia-Pacific): http://corporate.tomtom.com/releasedetail.cfm?ReleaseID=418773 So, if you have a Tele Atlas-based satnav app/device, ditch it for practically any of the other satnav solutions on the list I provided. Only having an outdated map of Metro Manila is not nice at all. ___ talk-ph mailing list talk-ph@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-ph
