Re: [talk-ph] Mapbox welcomes Maning Sambale!
Congrats Manning! That's fantastic :) A friend from work, Kelvin Abrokwa-Johnson has also joined the MapBox team! Will you be doing your work remotely or in DC? Oh! I am not sure! I can check in with some of the students who were there. We were not there yesterday :) Did the edits look ok? Re: [talk-ph] any on-going OSM events ?
Hey everyone, There was an OSM event this weekend at University of San Carlos in Cebu. A few weeks ago, we met members of an organization there (Passerelles Numeriques) that was really interested in having their tech students learn about OSM, and they invited us to come down and talk about it. So we did! We just did short sessions on ID editor and why mapping is important. We recommended they join the listserv if they want to stay involved with the OSM community and learn more. Hope that's okay...sorry for the lack of publicity! On Sat, Aug 1, 2015 at 6:09 PM, maning sambale wrote: > Not sure, but, there were 18 new subscribers to the list. Welcome > everyone! [talk-ph] Arts and Culture
Hi OSMcommunity, I have a question for you. I am working with the JapanFoundation to track and add arts and cultural sites to the map in and outside of Manila. This data is taken from their project and art guide called Run & Learn. There are over 81 locations, half of which I have found on or added to OSM. They are interested in mapping these sites to promote greater collaboration between artists, galleries, and museums in and outside Manila. I am encouraging them to use OSM to make this data a public good. However, they want to be able to easily find the sites they add to the map. These are cultural sites so its everything from galleries, to monuments, to shrines. Is there a special way I could tag this projects to show the association with the Japan Foundation or arts and culture. I know the tag, amenity= arts_center but would it be possible to do something like partnership= Japan_Foundation or type= arts_culture. Having a standard tag for all of these locations would help them identify quickly where these locations and easily download the data from OSM. Please let me know what you think! Advice? Ideas? Marc, the person I am working with is very excited about mapping arts and culture. I see him mapping for a while in PH! -- -Lu Sevier The College of William and Mary *http://www.linkedin.com/pub/lu-sevier/84/236/725 <http://www.linkedin.com/pub/lu-sevier/84/236/725>* ___ talk-ph mailing list talk-ph@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-ph
[talk-ph] Mapper in Cebu?
Hello OSM community, Does anyone know of local mappers in Cebu, especially Cebu City? I have a few specific questions for them if so! [talk-ph] Highlighting the OSMPH community
Hello OSMPH Community, My name is Lu Sevier and I am AidData Summer Fellow working with Map the Philippines here in Manila this summer. In the past few weeks I have had the chance to meet some of your members and have been extremely impressed by your OSM-PH community. I would love to highlight your community in an upcoming post in The First Tranche <http://aiddata.org/blog>, the AidData blog. I would love to tailor this blog post to the training and volunteer work you have done in country and highlight upcoming projects. I think this blog could bring more volunteers and publicity to your fantastic group. If you are interested, I would also like to interview (over email) anyone with the following questions. How long have you been a part of OSM community? What aspects of mapping are you most interested in? How did you become interested in mapping? What is your area of specialty or current job? How big is the current mapping community and how often do you guys meet up (virtually or in person)? Is there anything you would like people to know about OSM in the Philippines, especially how they can contribute or get involved? Also, feel free to add any suggestions as I am trying to spread the word about OSM and am still learning. Any and all constructive criticism would be much appreciated. Thank you for your help and time, Sincerely, -- -Lu Sevier The College of William and Mary *http://www.linkedin.com/pub/lu-sevier/84/236/725 <http://www.linkedin.com/pub/lu-sevier/84/236/725>* ___ talk-ph mailing list talk-ph@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-ph
