Noticed that (wrong Route 1) too.

Wanted to change that for some time but my internet connection has not been
cooperative lately when i've finally found time for it. I would like to
allocate time again for it this weekend.

Thanks.

already updated this on OSM (now correctly tagged as Route 940 - a
 secondary road on DPWH map).

Maharlika Highway (Route 1) cuts through Shariff Aguak all the way to
Cotabato City. Can you further investigate/verify, or edit in Google Maps?

It's very hard to edit a Trunk road classification once it matures. The
trunk rendering tend to stick for while.

I'll try to work my way backwards to verify if the computed Lat Long from

 Dear Rally and Eugene,

Sharing this to you before sending to the list.

I had a phone conversation with the DepEd Officer who is managing the
the DepEd School Mapping project and they gave a go signal to import
the school point data into OSM. The data covers 30% of all public
schools in the country. (See attached sample image).

 Summary stats:
 Elementary schools: ~12,000 locations
 HS: ~2,000

 Sample attributes:
 OGRFeature(deped_es_loc):12571
   REGION (String) = Region VIII
   DIVISION (String) = Biliran
   DISTRICT (String) = Cabucgayan
   LEGDIST_ID (Integer) = 0
   SCHOOL_ID (String) = 120792
   SCHOOL_NAM (String) = Langgao ES
   X (Real) = 124.6129203
   Y (Real) = 11.5076500
   NO_STREET (String) = -
   BRGY_CODE (Integer) = 87803008
   BRGY_NAME (String) = Brgy Langgao
   MUNI_CODE (Integer) = 87803000
   MUNI_NAME (String) = Cabucgayan
   PROV_NAME (String) = Biliran
   POINT (124.61292 11.50765)

Any idea on how we can add this to OSM? What I have in mind are:

 * No direct import! Create subsets of the data and allow individual
 mappers to add them.
 * How to detect duplicates/existing?
 * What tags should be added. If there is an existing node in OSM
should we update the tags to include other important data from deped?
 * How do we give back the data to DepEd including our own data from OSM?

  Hi guys,

I'll just give a short background regarding this event.

Early this year, OSMPH was invited to help out with the crowd-sourced
mapping aspects of the New Mobility Project (“Catalyzing New Mobility
in Cities: The Case of Metro Manila”), which is spearheaded by the
Ateneo School of Government through their Innovations at the Base of
the Pyramid in Southeast Asia (iBoP Asia) initiative.

They had a project launch last January 31 and February 1 where the
target area to be used as an example was North Triangle in Quezon
City. Rally attended that event and we were all pleasantly surprised
to see OSM used as the map. You can check the write-up of that event
  from Smart here:
  http://www.um-smart.org/blog/2012/02/08/smart-e-news-february-2012/

Some photos from that event showing OSM maps are the following:

 http://www.um-smart.org/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/12-2-7_Manila-Mapping.jpg

The project had another event on March 13 and the target area was the
  Ortigas CBD.

So this April 21 event is just another one in a series of events for
the New Mobility Project (NeMo). This time the target is non-motorized
transport (i.e., cycling) and the groups invited are cycling advocates
  like the Firefly Brigade.

I hope many of you can come. :)

How will Microsoft integrate this with their current OpenStreetMap

Re: [talk-ph] San Juan, Batangas mapping

2011-01-17 Thread Wayne Manuel
Sir Eric,

If all else fails, we (the Telehealth office) have an extra HTC Hero
(MyTracks already installed) that's with me. The HTC Desire is with the
Quezon-Quezon team this week.

For the information of the others, Sir Eric and I work at the National
Telehealth Center. Last week, our office tried to map Kiamba. They didn't
have enough time but they managed to add quite a long stretch of road from
the General Santos Airport to Kiamba and a lot of schools and health centers
and barangay halls. Named bridges too.

I'll be going to San Juan, Batangas on Wednesday, Jan. 19 and am
wondering what GPS tracking software for the Nokia N97 would you guys
recommend. I have been using SportsTracker, but it doesn't provide
capability to add waypoints and POIs.

The author of the article posted below is requesting for a mapping
party for one of their project area on January 15, 2011.

He should be posting the specific area in a few days, it will probably
 be a slum/GK site.

Anyone interested? I'll create a wikipage once I get more details.

We can contribute a lot by helping community organization create their
