Nobody actually edited any maps. The event was just basically a the bloggers/developers version of the press conference that occurred last March 12 wherein bloggers and developers replaced the mainstream media. Unsurprisingly, Rally was also there since he is an estwhile Map Maker contributor. :-) ___ talk-ph mailing list talk-ph@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-ph

Re: [talk-ph] Google Map Maker Mapping Party now in the Philippines
I haven't seen Google announce this event generally so I guess it's an invitation-only affair. It will be on June 3 in the evening in Makati. I think some of them are aware of OSM but I'm planning to surreptitiously introduce OSM to those who don't know. Hehehe. Well, I think many will still choose to stick with Google Map Maker owing to Google's vast satellite imagery collection, but at least they will be aware that a non-proprietary alternative exists. Hello all, I got an invite to attend what appears to be the first Google Map Maker Mapping Party in the Philippines. I think I'll just might go and observe what happens. Google Mapping Party? Well, you can get a nice OSM-biased introduction on the subject from a recent blog post of mine (that I posted before I got the invite) and where I essentially diss the Google Mapping Party concept: http://vaes9.codedgraphic.com/posts/google_mapping_party_kit . I'm not sure if my post had anything to do with me getting an invite. Hehehe. I'll post a write-up to the mailing list after the event. :-) Eugene / seav http://vaes9.codedgraphic.com ___ talk-ph mailing list talk-ph@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-ph
