Most likely the quality or method of creation of the data in this area
changes at the 39th parallel.

[Talk-us] Sevier Lake Anomaly

2011-02-16 Thread Val Kartchner
What I'm asking about is this anomaly in the area of Sevier Lake:
What is up with this sudden change in terrain?

I found it because I was going to trace Sevier Lake as a lake.
("http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sevier_Lake";) After a while I decided
that since its levels varies so much, I would leave it to a local
mapper. I did leave what I had traced so far, just not as a lake.

There is an abandoned proposal to trace intermittent lakes.
Should this be revived?

Re: [Talk-us] [Imports] Imports, trails, POIs for National Parks

2011-02-16 Thread Nakor

Hello,

I have been importing data into National Parks mostly using NPS data
(dataset from their libraries plus infos from the maps you get there)
plus NHD for water and my own personal data. The most complete one I
covered so far is Glacier NP.

From my own experience, road sets from NPS are pretty accurate but
trails are quite bad. They mostly look like someone walked the trail and
uploaded their GPS tracks.

Thanks,

N.

[Talk-us] Would you like MapQuest to demo your app in our SXSW booth?

2011-02-16 Thread Antony Pegg
Hello all,

MapQuest is busy planning out our booth for the SXSW conference (
http://www.sxsw.com) and we'd love to show some of the great things that
people have done that leverage the open APIs & tools we've stood up over the
last few months as we work to support OSM.

If you think you'd enjoy us showing off your projects to thousands of
people, and giving you mad props while we do it, then please let us know at
either o...@mapquest.com or a...@mapquest.com.

We're looking for projects, apps, demos, mashups, proof of concepts etc that
utilize any of the services found here:
http://developer.mapquest.com/web/products/open

this includes:
 - MQ OSM tiles
 - MQ open Aerial tiles
 - MQ stylesheets
 - Directions service (especially anything done with bike routing)
 - elevation service
 - nominatim
 - Guidance service
 - the open Javascript SDK

Thanks!
