Re: [Talk-us] Named beaches, too?
It has been pointed out in numerous places before, but just in case you missed it: there is an ongoing effort (since months) to remove all catch alls from the standard style. This implies that stuff you thought was rendered might vanish, but in fact it was just accidental that it was shown in the first place. If there is a feature that you feel strongly should be displayed with the standard style, then you should submit a feature request. Why bother? Oh, yeah: the tagging captures. Yet without definitive (Standard) rendering, why bother? (Can't say when named beaches ducked out, but NR/leisure=nature_reserve was recent). Wow, I'm in a mood: don't mess with (our) mapnik?! Again, I'm all for improvements. But dumbing down? Can't we just talk? [Talk-us] ODBL for Spatial Analysis
Please let me know if I should direct this at a different list, but I have a basic question about the implications of the ODBL: OSM is brimming with great POIs and network features; I'd like to use some of these categories to answer broad questions like How far is this customer from the nearest park/school/whatever? Unfortunately, I'm not precisely sure of my legal obligation once I've answered that question. Specifically, would I be required to contribute the location of the customer back to OSM? If not, does that still hold when I upscale it to millions of customers? Thanks for the assistance, in any case. I know this is a somewhat contentious issue for the community, and I'd rather not make any assumptions. -Bill -- William Morris | Senior Visualization Engineer Faraday Inc | faraday.io | (802)-458-0441 x336 | SF/VT/FR/WI ___ Talk-us mailing list Talk-us@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-us
Re: [Talk-us] Mapnik not rendering leisure=nature_reserve
This isn't a problem with Mapnik, but a change to openstreetmap.org's Mapnik XML. I would post an issue here https://github.com/gravitystorm/openstreetmap-carto Daniel Thank you, Daniel! I have now discovered that Paul Norman has effectively done this with https://github.com/gravitystorm/openstreetmap-carto/issues/563 .
