[Talk-us] Anyone want to team up to work on Austin, Texas (was LA and other license changeover challenged areas)
Hey Ya'll, Does anyone want to work together to fix up Austin, Texas? I know the city like the back of my hand (I grew up there, went to UT, etc) but there is too much work for one person... Thea ___ Talk-us mailing list Talk-us@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-us
[Talk-us] OSM US Swag
Hi Everyone, I wanted to update y'all about the ETA of swag to chapter members. I had some personal things going on last week and missed the postal pickup i had set up. I have booked a new pickup date for the packages this coming Monday/tomorrow. Members and folks who requested mapping party supplies will receive them been Wednesday and Friday of this week. Sorry for the delay. If you would like a new member kit or to request event swag just sign up for membership and send me an email at theaglit...@gmail.com. Please note we have limited supplies and resources so we can only ship inside the US and supply events of under 100 ppl per event. Re: [Talk-us] Ideas for OSMF US Swag
I have room at my house and plenty of experience mailing OSM swag out to people. I guess I should have been more clear. I totally would not have suggested we get swag and mail it to people if I wasn't willing to do the bulk of the heavy lifting. Though I do think it would be nice if we had a few volunteers from around the country shipping regionally. But we'll handle that farther down the road. Right now I just want to focus on picking awesome swag that people think will help mappers grow their local communities. Also, just to be clear, OSM-US can only afford to mail swag to people in the US. International postage rates end up making the cost of shipping more than the stuff we are sending. My two cents about the flyers. I really like the one produced by GeoFabrik. However, it might be nice to make a few tweeks to that model so its more US centric and plays better in this market. But thats just me... Thea ___ Talk-us mailing list Talk-us@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-us
[Talk-us] SOTM room discounts for OSMF US Members
Hi US Mappers, The OSMF US team has been busy doing some fundraising to help support the mapping community. We’ve had some good results and would like to announce an exciting opportunity. We are excited to announce a program aimed at helping get OSMF US members to SOTM inDenver. We have our second general assembly meeting planned to coincide with SOTM. It is very important to us that as many members as possible are in attendance; both for the meeting and to take part in the first International SOTM on US soil. We are very aware of the financial burden trips like this can put on our membership. There are discounts for airfare available on the SOTM website but we would like to go a step farther. We have raised some money to help pay for a block of hotel rooms close to the event venue for OSMF US members. To be eligible, you need to be a current member of OSMF US at the time of the event *and* live in the US. You can join OSMF US here: http://www.openstreetmap.us/membership/ Remember that most members joined in June of 2010 so you might need to renew your membership to be eligible for a room discount. We would like provide all OSM US members with some level of financial help. However, at this time we are not sure how many people plan on attending the conference. The number of members attending will determine the amount of the discount we can give on each room. So, if you are an OSMF US member who will have valid membership through September 12, 2011 and would like to take advantage of this program, please email me at theaglit...@gmail.com no later than July 15, 2011. On July 16 I’ll post back to the list and let everyone know what the next step will be and the amount of the discount. If you have any questions, feel free to email me at the address listed above. Thanks, Thea Clay OSMF US Board Member and Treasurer ___ Talk-us mailing list Talk-us@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-us
[Talk-us] Ideas for OSMF US Swag
Hi US Mappers, We are looking for ways OSMF US can help mappers who are interested in throwing mapping parties, conducting outreach activities and bringing more people into the community. The most frequent request we get is for OSM branded materials that can be given out at mapping and speaking events. We have obtained a great discount from a vendor and would like to purchase things like pens, stickers, etc. Our idea is that when a community member throws an event, they can contact us and we will mail the supplies to them free of charge. Our question to the community is: If you like this idea, what types of branded materials would you like? Thanks, Thea Clay, for the OSMF US Board ___ Talk-us mailing list Talk-us@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-us
